Reviewed from notes. Consumed many times over the course of the past several months. The appearance has a dark brown almost black body with a one and half finger head that dies within a minute, lacing is spotty yet slides into the body. The smell is peat, caramel, tobacco all combined in a roasty smooth way. The taste is smooth sweet maltiness through the caramel, tobacco and peat begin to take a secondary sort of flavoring, peat aftertaste, somewhat dry finish. The palate is about a medium, but not sessionable, carbonation seems to be good for the style and for me. Overall, this is a good Scottish ale for me.

Pours a hazy copper/orange color and leaves the same color body, one and a half finger white foamy head that rises just a bit and then dies gracefully leaving a spectacular looking lightly foamy spider web clingy lacing, nice show; the aromas is sweet and floral yet piney and somewhat bitter hops up front, caramel does come through but is really surprisingly light for an EIPA; the flavor is sweetly smooth through floral, piney tones, subdued caramel only comes in the aftertaste and is barely there, dry yet smooth finish; mostly easy on the palate and carbonation is excellent; overall, wow, an awesome EIPA that is slightly borderline AIPA, no worries, I would have this again

Can, courtesy of SHIG – thanks! Massive white head atop a golden pour great retention and moderate lacing. Pleasant aroma is lightly fruity, grape perhaps, some grass and grains. A crisp and lively flavor of light hops and sweeter malts. Refreshing.

Can from SHIG, thanks! Aggressive pour yields two fingers of creamy beige head atop a flat copper-orange body. Good retention throughout the entire glass and thick sheets of lacing. Nose is sweet; citrus, fruity, and caramel. Some herbals. Good hops flavor, mostly pine, light bits of citrus, some caramel malt. Kinda spicey herbals to finish. Off the beaten path of the mainstream IPA… I like it.

Can: I swear I have bonused this in a few trades and then realized I have never tried it. Poured a dark coppery orange with a two finger lacing off white head. Aroma is sweet candy and fresh juicy hops. Taste is dank with fresh hops bitter and has a balancing malt finish. Spice tingly remains on the tongue.

Can: Poured a golden with a finger high white fluffy head. Dissipated to leave thin layer of white. Aroma is grain and lite hops. Taste is a nice grain with metallic hops to break it up.

Crisp, slightly hazy copper and light amber coloured body with a dense, three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of caramel, slightly pale malt, earthy and nutty notes, some soapy hops and a bit of sweetness. Medium-bodied; Assertive nutty and earthy hops up front with a metallic and pungent malt note, some caramel and toffee sweetness at the backend and a bit of alcohol bite to finish off. Aftertaste shows more malt and alcohol than hops and a rather unpleasant bitterness that just sticks out, mostly from the alcohol and nutty malt. Overall, a decent beer, but not one of my favourite IPAs nor beers from Alaska - still nice to try, since it was a craft beer in a can from the great state. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from La Bodega in Anchorage, Alaska on 23-May-2013 for US$2.50 sampled at home in Washington on 10-August-2013 a day before leaving for Belgium - for a reminder of what hoppy beers are here stateside.

Growler picked up at La Bodega and shared with Dallas, Bonnie and Mike (for Breakfast) while standing on Lake Denali and taking pictures of Mt. McKinley in a foot of snow and a sunny 25deg outside temp
Appearance: Clear dark mahogany with a small tan head and spotty lacing
Aroma and flavors of roasted malts, grainy and coffee
Very nice, a little thin but this tasted great considering our location
