Description
Since Arrogant Bastard Ale was first unleashed upon the unsuspecting public in 1997, the brand has been braving bold territory and upsetting dandies, milquetoasts and fizzy yellow beer drinkers in great numbers. Massively successful, and ever full of vip and vinegar, Arrogant Bastard Ale split off from the restrictive confines of Stone Brewing in 2015. And now, the brethren of Liquid Arrogance is free to explore, cavort and roam how they damn well see fit. For those Worthy few that wish to gaze upon the musings of Arrogant Bastard Ale, Double Bastard Ale, Bourbon Barrel-Aged Arrogant Bastard or other Bastard beers, follow along via Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Arrogantbastard.com.

3L bomber (2004 version) at our Septoberfest party. The beer is cloudy dark reddish-brown color with a thick tan head that has good retention. Patches of lacing. Woody, citrusy hops aroma with lots of malt. Full-bodied with a subtle oak character which infuses the already-tasty Arrogant Bastard with an interesting new dimension. Flavors of malt, fruit and piney hops are all present. Hops become steadily more pronounced. The finish is hoppy and malty with a lingering citrus and apricot aftertaste. Really good.

12 oz. Perfect pour. Dark brown color with a touch of ruby. Aroma is that of regular Arrogant Bastard, but with a nice touch of oak and vanilla. The flavor is extremely smooth, and creamy. While not extremely high in alcohol content, the beer has no distinguishable features that would lead me to believe that it’s any higher than a typical beer (~5%).

Deep chestnut colour, small yellowish head. USA C-hops, dry cookies, bitter almonds aromas. Hops cake instead of space cake. Sweet cake bottom, and again, over and over, just dried hops. Bit of wood, drenched in hops oil and a bit of molasses, spatted with orange marmalade. Medium bodied, lip-sticking ending. A classic, but since I tasted this as one of my first Westcoast big’unes, better have come up.

(Draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm) Dark ruby colour with frothy off-white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with dark fruit, grapefruit, pine needles, hints of rubber, balanced notes of dark hops. Fruity taste with notes of dark fruit, cherries, grapefruit, pine needles and resin. Dark, heavy bitterness in the finish. Great stuff.

Wonderfully complex aroma of thistle, pineapple, and maple syrup. Opaque ochre colored with a thick orange head, nice glass coating. Moderately strong flavor with hops dominating. Light smoke, citrus, and syrup notes are also present on the edges. Finish is hoppy and doughy, and a little bitter, but tastefully so. Great flavor and complexity. Not too heavy.

12oz Bottle pours out a hazy amber/brown topped with a great off white head. A very nice and sweet aroma. Tast of candy and I could pick up a little wood. Very nice.
