Description
Since Arrogant Bastard Ale was first unleashed upon the unsuspecting public in 1997, the brand has been braving bold territory and upsetting dandies, milquetoasts and fizzy yellow beer drinkers in great numbers. Massively successful, and ever full of vip and vinegar, Arrogant Bastard Ale split off from the restrictive confines of Stone Brewing in 2015. And now, the brethren of Liquid Arrogance is free to explore, cavort and roam how they damn well see fit. For those Worthy few that wish to gaze upon the musings of Arrogant Bastard Ale, Double Bastard Ale, Bourbon Barrel-Aged Arrogant Bastard or other Bastard beers, follow along via Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Arrogantbastard.com.

From March 11th 2007:

Pours from 22oz bottle(room temp) a clear deep amber with a huge head of foam that just won't quit. Solid layer with lots of lacing.

The smell is very hoppy. I note grapefruit in big abundance.

The taste on first sip is hugely hoppy. Lots of citrus that makes your mouth want to pucker but just before it does, the malt moves in and somewhat tames the hops. No, more than that. The malt actually takes over the flavour and I'm not talking really sweet caramel malt...wait...yes I am. Wow. You fooled me. ;^) Boy, is this a treat.

Further sips in and I'm getting more of the balanced flavours but mind you, while the hops and malt seem to be working in unison, I cannot deny that the said flavours are as big and bold as the great outdoors. Like the label says, this is an aggressive beer and it refuses to let you just sit there and reach a comfort zone; when you're sipping on it, it takes center stage and all others things going on around you become mere side shows. What an egotistical brew and...I'm loving it!

Bottom line: A fantastic brew that will earn your attention whether you wish to or not. Highly recommended!

Canned. Probably from Richmond. It was a yellow pilsner that was pretty good.

Poured a nice clear gold from tall boy. Grassy malts but some nice pilsner bitterness. Clean finish. Really great pilsner.

Bottled. Medium brown pour, oily and a decent head. Caramel, vanilla, rye and mild burn. Delicioso

Bottled. Can’t believe I’ve never had this yet. Brown pour. Nice looking thin head. Nice hearty malty taste and dark fruits. Dry hop finish. Good stuff.

Man, trying to find this one to rate it without comprehending the intentional misspelling is v. difficult.

Draught (as lucky bastard, not basartd, hence the issue). Poured reddish brownish, strong hops aroma, pretty decent, mild alco burn. Ok.

Re-ratign after long and dignifed period of drinking ABA. Strong woody and hop notes make it a classic.

Bottle. Really dark brown with a nice two finger, tan head. Aroma and taste were lots of smoky peat with hints of ash and soap. It is just not for me.
