Brown color. Mildly sour, some cheese. Balsamic. Sour flavor but not an intense sourness.

Tap at Penrose. Deep brown body. Amber stained-glass edges. Big, creamy, foamy beige head. Quite nice. The wheat adds some creaminess to the body. The buckwheat tones are slightly reminiscent of Sara, which is great. More of a sessionable Belgian Brown than a Belgian Black. Very nice.

Tap at Penrose. Unfiltered orange-copper body. Creamy, puffy head. Rather bitter, dry astringent aroma for the style. Blood orange, leather. Straight up brett, not much depth. Sort of has that hairspray astringency. Delicate, soft mouthfeel. The Ardennes yeast still shines through I suppose. Not really a flavor profile I enjoy.

Tap at Penrose. Deep brown body, big beige head. Can’t think of too many other Belgian coffee beers. I’m not wild about the aroma, it kind of adds an off earthy tone. Chocolate sweetness, not so far removed from a Dunkel in that respect. I don’t think the coffee is really a bonus here. Sort of brings it into brown ale territory. Mellows out as it breaths, coffee aroma comes out more. Creamy medium body. Solid enough offering, fresh and clean.

Links, Chicago tap: pours a similar look as to a flemmish red. Aroma is vinegar, cherry, and wood. Taste is sour at the top, then woody, then lightly sour at the finish with a sort of woody aftertaste. Not at all sweet. Very light bodied.

Sampled from the tap at GTMW 2015. Pours a clear red with a tan head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma is full of pie cherries with a slight tartness and a light grain backing. Flavor has pie cherries throughout with a bit of oak and earthiness underlying.
