Description
Freedom’s Edge Brewing Company has been brewing up tasty craft beer in the heart of downtown Cheyenne since 2012 making us the oldest operating brewery in the Capital City. As of February 2020 we are proud to say we are under NEW OWNERSHIP, officially making FEBC a locally owned and operated brewery. Joel Emerick & Eric Kilmer are grateful for our business past and now they’re ready to make history taking FE to the next level where their passion for building within the community will truly shine; building new recipes, new relationships and new memories.

A black brew poured with a small tan head of foam with some decent lacing.
I smell some light cocoa and malt, very light in fact.
Cocoa is in the flavour along with some sweet malt with a hint of peppers. What’s here is nice but it’s so too much on the mild side...4.2%, I blame you. I will say that it’s an easy drinking beer; the mouthfeel is rather thin as I’d kind of expect from a lower alcohol brew. I’d be happy if they made this more robust and save the lower abvs for styles that can shine with them.

This pours a cloudy(bottle conditioned/unfiltered) straw gold, 1 finger head of foam.
The smell is weak. I get a bit of lemon zest and a bit of grass.
The taste is of lemon zest, a weak malt backbone, a bitterish finish that isn’t all that pleasing.
The first bottle I tried, I liked it more than the 2 I’ve had since. Bottle variation? Maybe. Or, I’m getting more used to the flavours presented in the beer and I’m realizing the beer isn’t pleasing my palate as much as I thought it did.
For 7.0% abv it, despite my negative comments, is pretty easy drinking but I wouldn’t spend another +$9 for a six pack.

A careful pour and it foams like crazy! It has a straw yellow colour with loads of bubbles rising to the top.
The smell is hoppy..mostly of grass and grapefruit.
The taste is grassy with some bitter grapefruit, earthy malt, and finishes decidedly on the dry side.
The mouthfeel is okay but could be better with a bit less carbonation.
Overall, a decent stab at the style but I do not know how old my bottles are as there’s no dating of any kind.
