Description
Leo Brand begon in 1986 met brouwerij Sint Christoffel in Roermond in een hal achter zijn woonhuis. Binnen een paar maanden realiseerde hij er met zijn vrouw een professionele moderne bierbrouwerij. Nadat Leo Brand klein begonnen was in de binnenstad van Roermond, is de brouwerij in 1995 verhuisd naar de Roervallei, net buiten Roermond. Hierbij nam middels de aanschaf van een nieuw professioneel brouwhuis, gist- en lagerkelder de brouwcapaciteit flink toe.

Omdat hij geen opvolger had verkocht Leo Brand het bedrijf in 2001 aan Jeroen Hillenaar. Sinds augustus 2009 werd het management van ‘Sint Christoffel Bier’ eigenaar van de brouwerij geworden door middel van een managementbuy-out. Op 16 januari 2013 werd brouwerij Sint Christoffel failliet verklaard.

Op 1 augustus 2013 vond er een doorstart plaats zijn onder de vlag van de brouwerijhuurder Sint Christoffel Bieren BV in Breda. De bieren worden gebrouwen in de Belgische Proefbrouwerij te Lochristi. In 2015 werd de naam van de brouwerij gewijzigd in Sint Christoffel Bieren en in 2017 werd het Speciaalbierbrouwerij St. Christoffel.

Bottle. Huge head with good duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are rich hops, warming alcohol, malt and hay.

Bottle. Creamy white good mostly lasting head. Yellow colour. Moderate malty and heavy hoppy aroma. Honey and perfumed notes. Moderate bitter nice flavor. Lavender notes. Averageheavy bitter finish. Creamy palate.

Great show of hops in this one, double effort is apparent. Smell of hops is strong and the follow through stronger in the taste. Good notes of bitterness, thick palate

Draft @ Copenhagen Beer Festival 2011. Pours a hazy amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity spicy wheat malty caramel aroma. Fruity wheat malty spicy caramel and dark fruit flavor. Has a fruity spicy wheat malty caramel finish.

Draught Very good yellow-cream head over faintly hazy chestnut coloured beer. Very roasted nose, bitterish roasted (horse?)chestnuts, bitter toffee. Roasted, but sweetish, caramelly flavour, dark honey, rosewater without the excessive sweetness; speculoos spices, very nice. Medium to well-bodied. Surprisingly interesting, well-made and original beer.

Pours hazy gold into a snifter. White head with good retention recedes leaving spot lacing. Sweet citrus aromas. Dry, sweet caramel upfront and lasting hot citrus finish.

Bottle at Cafe Buitenlust, Oirschot. Hazy yellow / golden color, average white head. Decent smell, nice lght hoppy and bitter taste. Carbo and body medium. Nice pilsener for sure.

(Draught at In de Wildeman, Amsterdam, 16 July 2011) Dark reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty nose with notes of caramel, dark bread and raisins. Malty taste with caramel, dried fruit, dark rye bread, raisins and a mild, bitter-sweet finish. Medium body, with balanced sweetness. Quite nice.
