12 oz. bottle, at the Sand Dunes Oasis restaurant. Pours a clear, brown color, with a fair, foamy, beige head. The nose is toast, rye, grass clippings, and pine. Sweet and malty, with a hard, acrid bitterness. Light to medium, grainy, sticky. Harsh and rough.

Bottle at the Great North Carolinian green chili cook off. Cloudy pale yellow color, thick white head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma of white bread dough and straw, very subtle black pepper. Taste is grapefruit and a bit of heat. Odd.

Straw colour. This has a light green chile nose. Mild green chile on the palate, with some off-notes - quite unpleasant butyric stuff. The chile heat slides in late.

Dark brown. Light roast and malt sugar on the nose. Thin, with astringent roast. Finishes poorly, with this thin harsh stuff.

Amber. Citrusy moderately hoppy nose. Bitter, pithy and earthy hop character. Good balancing caramel malts. Now we’re getting somewhere.

Amber colour. Aroma is caramel, light fruit. Moderate bitterness. Nice spiciness. Don’t get any particular "steam" character, but it is a decent-enough amber.

Golden amber colour. Fruity, caramelly, fairly well-balanced amber. Nothing special, but if you like ambers, you’ll probably like this.
