Description

Bottle. Spicy brown ale type, little bit of sweetness, quite different for a Belgian beer. Bit of bitterness, brown bread maltiness.

Bottle at Cafe Rose Red. Light golden colour with big white bubbly head. Aroma is yeasty, grainy, citrus lemon hops. Taste is less full on, still lemony hop, bit of floury wheatiness. Quite mild and hides the booze well. Not so exciting when following the mam zelle.

Bottle from Sugaya. Slightly cloudy light amber colour, big bubbly off-white head. Aroma is citrus, bit soapy, slightly herbal, bit of funkiness, bit creamy too and lots of hoppy bitterness. Taste is light and belgian. Lots of citrus bitterness, biscuity malt but with touch of spiciness. Slightly chalky and much sweeter and quite fruity with yeast added. Like an XX Bitter but with more maltiness and a bit herbal. Pretty nice and very easy drinking.

330ml bottle, thanks JefVerstraete for this! Pours the darkest brown with a large frothy brown-tinged head. Aroma is strong oud bruin, vinegar hints, liquorice, toffee, leather. Taste follows similar contours, umami-laced vinous sweetness, toffee glimpses, leathery, berry hints.. a nicely held bruin, flavoursome, balanced.. good.

Not sure if new beer, or should be merched under/together with the Original Fils a Papa 8 from 2017. Pours clear blonde, small to decent white head. Medium low stability. Smell is recognizable vin jaune, but it has a sweet undertone from the beer. some funk, reminding of lactic acid kinda tartness. Taste is indeed a bit tart, with a lot of vin jaune flavor as well ( nutty, oaky, fruity ) a bit sweet in the back. Reminds me a bit of their cuvee jeune homme , which i absolutely adore. Great stuff, this one !

330ml bottle, thanks to JerVerstraete for this! Misty yellow appearance, medium white head. Lightly smoky nose, some saison yeast. Taste is gently smoky, lightly sour, some funk, soft vinous elements, light body, good drinkability. Nice, but expected a little more complexity.
