About
Brouwer - eigenaar Luc Vermeersch heeft een grote interesse voor traditionele ambachten. Niet vreemd dus dat hij destijds in zijn tuinhuis een broodoven en kleine brouwerij heeft geïnstalleerd. De minibrouwerij van 30 liter had hij in 1997 in Finland gekocht. Hij kreeg van de fabrikant juist geteld één weekend opleiding. Door veel zelfstudie en het maken van talloze kleine proefbrouwsels groeide zijn brouwkennis en -interesse. Na 10 jaar brouwen schreef hij zich in voor een brouwcursus. Tijdens het cursusjaar smeedde hij plannen voor een grotere brouwerij en begon hij her en der delen van de installatie te kopen. In april 2008 was brouwerij De Leite een feit.

Tap. Hazy golden color with white head. Aroma is herbs, fresh yeast, a bit smoke. Taste is the same. Oily mouthfeel with low carbonation. Weird!

Tap. Hazy orange color with white head. Aroma is smoke - lapsang style, fresh yeast. Taste is fresh yeast, not so much whisky, a bit tart, dough, tea smoke again. Silky mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Good!

Tap. Hazy golden color with white head. Aroma is yoghurt, gooseberries, fresh yeast, I don't get much smoke. Taste is yoghurt, milky, gooseberries, a bit herbal, nice tartness. Silky mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Nice!

Clear pale blond to yellow beer, creamy solid off-white head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: malty, grains, little fruity, herbal, bit smoky. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty bitter, bit metallic, fruity touch, yeasty. Aftertaste: hoppy, dry, grassy, bitter, bit yeasty.

Bottle. Unclear red with a 1cm pink head that fades in both colour and extent. Aroma of cherries, earth, cherry stones/ almonds, oak, bracken. Part of the earthy not I don't much like. Medium bodied, diluted kefir texture - very alive. In that Belgian way, it's an 8.5% refresher. Vinous with some cherries, vanilla, plenty of oak. Sour but softly so. Some surprising spice notes at the end - mace? Interesting and good.

Cloudy pale yellow beer, creamy solid yellowish head, very stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: spicy, dusty, coriander, fruity, some banana, yeast. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: bit yeasty, fruity, banana, hint of whisky, some citrus, little smoky. Aftertaste: fruity touch, bitter, grassy, some tannins, citrus, some grapefruit.

Cloudy pale yellow beer, creamy solid yellowish head, very stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: yeasty, spicy, coriander, dusty, bit dirty, funky. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: little bitter, funky, somewhat acidic, tannins, citrus, soft bitterness, tannins, where's the fruit tough? Aftertaste: woody, tannins, soft bitterness.

Pretty cloudy blond to light beige beer, solid creamy yellow head, pretty stable, little adhesive. Aroma: fruity and funky, acidic notes, lots of wood? MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: bit sour, funky touch, some bitter tannins, citrus, some banana. Aftertaste: bit dry, more citrus, some grapefruit, tannins, fruity, orange peel. Very nice one!
