Portland isn’t just in our name, it’s in our blood. We were born from the creativity which the city thrives. Founded by industry pioneers who had no rules or playbook, nevertheless helping shape the Portland beer scene we love today. Everyday we pursue with the same passion and thirst that we had brewing our first beer in 1986. Our dedicated group of brewers brings that passion into every batch, seeking that new amazing flavor. From that passion, each beer is created to celebrate “Portland Originals” like you, who are the creators, old and new, who make up this beautiful city we call home.
Admin Note: Portland Brewing Company merged with Saxer Brewing Company in 2000. In 2004 they sold the company to Pyramid Breweries out of Seattle. The Portland Brewing facility was then renamed MacTarnahan's Brewing Company later that year. In 2008 Pyramid Brewing was acquired by Magic Hat Brewing. In 2010 Magic Hat was bought by North American Breweries. Finally in 2012 Florida Ice & Farm Co. (FIFCO USA) acquired North American Breweries and with it the Portland Brewing brand. In 2013, FIFCO announced it would go back to the Portland Brewing Company name in order to better capitalize on the brands original roots.

On tap. Pours a clear amber with a creamy tab head that dissipates slowly to the edges and laces. Aroma has notes of straw and hay with a bit of sweet grain underlying. Flavor has lots of straw with a bit of hay and a hint of grains backing.

Draft pour pint at the Safe. Pours a clear copper color with a thick cloud cover foam head. Bitter flavor. Hop forward flavor, but seems a little stale. Fruit hints toward the finish. Not bad.

12 oz bottle poured. Pours a bright clear orange color with a lasting fizz head. Earthy hop aroma. Orange fruit, and hop forward flavor with a bitter finish. Orange flavor is a good highlight. Decent IPA.

Tap at OBF 2015. Pours dark amber with a beige head. Aroma seems citrus. Med body or better. Flavor is malt forward; citrus follows. Rather "rich". Seems "fresh". Finishes reasonably bitter. Well balanced.

Tap at the Pyramid Berkeley venue. Pours gold with a creamy white head. Aroma is fruity, citrus, hint of bread. Med body. Flavor is earthy/piney, citrus, mildly fruity, somewhat roasty bready malt. Solid flavors. Very tasty.

Bomber. Pours a clear golden color with a small white head. A big fruity biscuit nose. The flavor is big citrus, perfume, smooth sweet malty base. Easy going. Nice.

Bomber from Made in Oregon. Pours bright copper with a slight beige head. Aroma is lightly fruity with a hint of malt. Med body, or approaching. Flavor is a bit caramel, so much so I though diacetyl for a sec. Thankfully it was quickly followed by a fruit mix of hop. Flavors aren’t strong, but certainly adequate for 4.8%. And the finish is bitter enough to take off the amber edge. Recommended for sessionability.
