Description
In 2012 it happened that Johannes Heidenpeter, master brewer and owner of Heidenpeters, was allowed to enjoy an English porter by chance. He liked it so much that he started brewing at home, experimented a little and delighted his friends and acquaintances with great beers. The decision to open his own micro-brewery quickly grew in him. The trained artist, who graduated from the art college in Berlin, finally got to know the operators of the Markthalle Neun in Berlin-Kreuzberg and had them taste his beers. They were also immediately enthusiastic and an agreement was reached. With some borrowed money, Johannes went to work and tinkered with his own small brewery. In the meantime, Johannes Heidenpeter brews his creations on a small scale directly in the cellar of the Markthalle Neun.

330ml bottle. Hazy, orangey golden colour with average to huge, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Floral, herbal and grassy hoppy aroma, hints of hay and lime, also a touch of rhubarb, gooseberry and melon. Taste is dry hoppy, minimally tart, hints of lemon juice, hay, grass, a touch of lime and gooseberry, minimally sweet pale malty basis with a cautious touch of sugar powder; slightly astringent finish; lively carbonation. Nice "dirty" hop touch, slightly ill-conceived malt basis.

330ml bottle. Cloudy, amber colour, reddish glimmer, with huge, frothy, long lasting, decently lacing, off-white head. Ephemeral, tart-ish raspberry aroma with a herbal touch and hints of pine turns with time passing by into bath salt aroma with lavender notes. Taste is initially tart, minimally soapy with bath salt touch, hints of raspberry and lavender, a touch of pine, later same caramel malty sweetness comes in, liable for a more balanced and harmoniously integrated result; lively carbonation. Pros: real raspberry taste/aroma, not too sweet; cons: bath salt touch. Nice try overall.

Ein Bier, das die Ausgewogenheit der Aromen perfektioniert, was der Braumeister wirklich beherrscht, Hut ab. Hier hätte man aber ruhig mehr Wumms reingeben können. Klar, ein Bier mit solchen Namen soll leicht und süffig sein, aber ein bisschen mehr von diesen tollen hätte nicht geschadet.

Auch dieses Bier konnte ich vor Ort probieren. Ein solides Pale Ale ohne unnötige Schnörkel, das sich einfach auf seine Balance zwischen malzigen Körper und hopfigen Einstieg und Abgang konzentriert. Das gefällt.

Eines meiner ersten Black IPAs, das ich während einer Reise mit meinem damaligen Mitbewohner 2014 in einer Bobo-Bar in Berlin trank. Ich erinnere mich an einen angenehm malzigen Körper, der aber doch schnell dem Hopfen und den IPA-typischen Aromen Platz machte. Viele Aromen und diese gut ausbalanciert, was will man mehr. Was mich bei solchen kreativen Schöpfungen immer noch kleinlicher bei guten Bewertungen macht, ist das Faktum, ob ich es wiederekennen würde; das sehe ich hier neben aller Begeisterung aber nicht, dennoch ein tolles Bier.

Leicht trübes strohgelbes Bier mit schöner großen Schaumkrone. Geruch hopfig, sehr fruchtig herb. Geschmack nach Aprikosen und anderen leckeren Früchten, hopfig, leicht fruchtig bitter.

Trübes oranges Bier mit geringer Schaumkrone. Geruch fruchtig, bitter, würzig, hopfig. So ist auch der Geschmack.
