(Bottle 33 cl) 6,8% ABV in my version. Hazy, golden beer with a fine fluffy head. Fruity nose, fruity flavours - coriander? - very soft mouthfeel. Almost no bitterness. A pleasant beer that wouldn’t offend anyone. Easy to finish, easy to forget. 200398

(Bottle 33 cl) Brown and surprisingly clear beer, huge, frothy head. Caramel and candy sugars in the flavour with some roasted malt. Could do with a bit more body - this is surprisingly almost watery for a Dubbel. 170398

Bottled. Hazy yellow colour with foamy white big head. Wheat and dishwater in aroma. Wheaty halfbitter citric flavour, with long wheaty fruity aftertaste.

(Bottle 75 cl) My version had 9% ABV. Black - not brown - pitch black licorice-like appearance, brownish frothy head. . Almost tar... Extremely rich and full-bodied. Spicy almost peppery notes with lots of burned malt. Some hoppines in the finish. Gee what a solid, potent brew. 191297

(Bottle 75 cl) A bit unusual with a Witbier as a Christmas-beer. At least on my home turf we expect Christmas beers to be dark and malty. But this is an unusual "Biére Blanche". The colour is dark amber (like "fire" the label claims). Caramel flavours, but no sweetness. On the contrary this is very dry, almost citrusy-sour. Very refined and complex, but less accessible than most Witbiers. Interesting. 181297

2004 bottle, if not 2005 even, sampled at the Mondial, 6/4/05. Small white head that recedes to cover. Lightly hazy straw body with some amber on the edges. Smells of dry yeast, very dusty and quite Belgian. Flavor is yeasty to start, but then, unexpectedly, I get some hop bitterness, rather plant-like or herbal, I suppose, but noticeably bitter (though nothing crazy). Bits of honey and light dough, well-malted, with low, tingly carbonation. Medium body, no thinning. Cookies, sweet dough, vanilla iced cream linger on . . . . and then Barry knocked the glass over and tried to blame it on me or Stephen.

(Bottle 75 cl) Golden filtered beer (although with yeast sediments). Nice head. Very dry, practically without sweetness and also with a pronounced bitterness. Obvious flavor of yeast. Possibly a label-beer. Bought at the visiting centre at the caves in Rochefort. 251204

(Bottle 25 cl) This version at 8% ABV. I found a vintage version of this one. (The best before date was in 1991). Fully golden, apparently clear beer with heavy sediment. (Chinese river-water). Pronounced head and vital carbonation. The outlines have vanished but I do sense some bitter hops. 231004 Fresh version sampled: 8/4/8/4/16=4 at 170298
