Description
After years of talking about it as a family, the decision is taken in 2015/16 to make brewing the new family business. The family travel to various brewery manufactures and finally place an order for the system that is now in place in Kilcoole.Equipment starts arriving and the brewery is built and commissioned. Late 2017, test beers are put out at the Irish craft beer festival at the RDS. In 2018 Larkin’s formally launches into the market at the Alltech beer festival in March. Larkin’s is now distributed in pubs across Ireland as well as exporting to other markets in the EU.

Can at home, from Craft Beer Central.ie, 29/05/24. Lighter shade of black topped with a big old dirty tan head that stays for the show. Nose is old skool BA impy, dark chocolate shavings, bourbon nose pinch, spice, molasses, fruit cake mix, dates, toasted brown sugars. Taste comprises dark chocolate, charr, dark malts, roasted bite, coffee, bourbon soaked oak, molasses, toffee, liquorice chew. Medium bodied with bite, fine to light prickly carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced spike of alcohol. Fun old skool impy ... you don't get many like this today not at all subtle ... big ballsy and bourbonic ... not a sweet adjunct rush.
