Description
After years of talking about it as a family, the decision is taken in 2015/16 to make brewing the new family business. The family travel to various brewery manufactures and finally place an order for the system that is now in place in Kilcoole.Equipment starts arriving and the brewery is built and commissioned. Late 2017, test beers are put out at the Irish craft beer festival at the RDS. In 2018 Larkin’s formally launches into the market at the Alltech beer festival in March. Larkin’s is now distributed in pubs across Ireland as well as exporting to other markets in the EU.

Can sample courtesy of Theydon_Bois, cheers Colin! Gluten Free. Golden colour, white foam head and aroma of malt, grains, fruity citric hop. Taste is malty, grainy, fruity, citrus, with yeasty notes, biscuit and light bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, drying citric bitter finish. Quite drinkable.

Can at home, from Yards & Crafts online, 26/09/22. Light golden blonde with a decent white cap that dissipates to a swirl. Nose is pale malts, toasted grains, cereals, hint of lemon, herb. Taste comprises cereals, pale malts, hedgerow, bread dough, grains, herb, lemon rind. Medium bodied, fine massaging carbonation, semi drying close. Decent pils.

Chestnut brown with a medium head. Aroma of warm toast coconut. Flavour is wood rum, burnt malt, warm fruit finish.

16/9/2022. Can shared by SHIG, cheers. Pours very dark brown with a small bubbly beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, dark fruits, berries, coconut. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness and body. Oily, average carbonation. Good.

Can. Murky yellow with a medium head. Aroma of mango tropics. Flavour is soft tropical fruit, light bitter, juicy base, sweet fruit finish.

(Draught at Craft & Draft, Amsterdam, 8 May 2022) Hazy golden orange colour with brief head. Fruity, sourish nose with notes of passion-fruit, mango and orange. Fruity, tart taste with passion-fruit, mango, pineapple, citrus and a tart finish with low bitterness. Medium body, with a slight sweetness. Fresh, fruity and tasty. Nice one.

Interesting beer. Not top notch for the style. A bit too artificial. Decent 15 bucks beer but not worth another. Gollem amstelstraat

Panda at home, thanks to SHIG, 09/07/22. g. Extremely dark mahogany brown with a thin khaki covering. Nose is rich roast, cocoa powder, toffee, nutty, dark malts, cacao nibs. Taste comprises dark malts, earthy, nutty, baking powder, chocolate, roasted bite, toffee. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a light kiss of booze. Decent enough impy stout.

Can thanks to MrsSHIG: Poured a deep brown with red edges, head is khaki. Aroma is rich roasted malts, coconut, chocolate, tropical fruits. Taste is tropical fruits, coconut, roasted malts, chocolate, light metallic.
