[2/2/16] Draught at Drake’s Dealership in Oakland. Black. Very boozy aroma with chocolate, vanilla, licorice, dark fruits. Boozy bittersweet flavor with licorice, dark fruits, some chocolate, wood. Very boozy and licorice-y. The bottle I tried was so much better, very different from this. 5/3/5/3/10=2.6

Tap at SF Beer Week Opening Gala. Pours opaque black, small tan head, good lacing. Aroma is lots of bourbon, vanilla, chocolate. Flavor is vanilla and bourbon heavy, medium bitter, fully sweet. Full body, creamy mouthfeel. This is just too over the top bourbon vanilla bomb for me.

Bomber from Monument in Concord, CA. Pours dark brown/black with a few dark tan bubbles. Aroma of chocolate and bourbon/vanilla. Near full bodied. Flavor is chocolate/vanilla with light notes of wood. Bourbon is quite present, but the sweetish chocolate and malt tends to obscure it. Not noticing heat. It’s very much dessert. Delicious.

On tap at Three Sheets. It pours a nice mahogany color with a khaki head. The aroma is syrupy malts with some maple, pecans and toast. Smells very sweet for such a small beer. The flavor is a bit drier with more malt melanoidens, toast, nuts and a bit of syrup. Kind of messy overall, but the flavors are decent, just somewhat underattenuated.
