Description
Kleiburg is the beer of the Klei Monastery: a spiritual and hospitable place in the Amsterdam Bijlmer neighbourhood. We are a social enterprise and are inspired by traditional Belgian monastery beers and give it an innovative twist. This results in very own specific beers: always recognizable and at the same time surprising.

On tap at De Proefzaak. Murky deep dark brown colour, beige head. Aroma of wood, alcohol, oak, dark fruits, malty, some vanilla. Flavour is malty, sweet, dark fruits, oak, light vanilla, didn't get any peat but I'm not sure if they also used Islay whisky for this year's version, soft bitterness. Full bodied, a bit alcoholic but certainly quite tasty. Good.

On tap at De Proefzaak. Murky orange-amber colour, thin white head. Aroma of some ginger, some caramel, orange, sweet and fruity. Flavour is light malty, fruity, sweet, lots of ginger heat, quite sharp and hot, ginger in the finish. Light bodied. I like ginger, but this was a bit too hot, without the refreshing qualities of ginger.

Clear amber brown colour, tall frothy beige head, good retention, heavy lacing. Aroma roasted malt, dark fruit, plum, molasses, caramel. Taste light heavy sweet, some light acidity (intentional?), candy sugar, caramel, plum, dark fruit, alcohol notes. All in all a decent brew despite a light infection, nevertheless drinkable.
