Description
"Kotayk" Brewery being part of "Multi Group" Concern is the successor of the Abovyan Brewery, which was founded last century in the 70s and became one of the leading manufacturing companies in the Soviet Armenia. Due to Czech equipment and technologies, the factory successfully manufactures products using domestic and imported raw materials. The factory been exploited in January 1978, occupying an area of 6.5 hectares, which was selected considering the high quality of the water flowing from Katnaghbyur.

In 1995 the factory decided to create the Open Joint Stock Company Mr. headed by Gagik Tsarukyan. During this time the factory created a new beers "Artsakh" and "Kotayk".
In 1996 by Mr. Tsarukyan's decision was established a joint venture with French "Castel" Company, which is internationally recognized as a manufacturer of beer, especially in Africa.
The quality of "Kotayk" Brewery products is controlled with perfectly equipped laboratory of the factory.

In 2011 Mr. Tsarukyan bought all bonds of "Kotayk" Brewery and became the sole owner of the company.

Bottle with 4.5 ABV. Golden, clear, white airy head. Stays for a minute. Grainy faint aroma. Light body. Thin to oily. The taste is unexpectedly hoppy. Very grassy, spicy. Some malts in the background. Long hoppy finish. Plain it is. Decent it is as well.

Thanks to MarkoNm for this bottle. Country #132 for me. Pours a hazy dark golden colour with a short lasting off white head. Aroma of corn and light malt. Quite heavy sweetness, minimal bitterness. Light body, sticky texture, average carbonation. Finish is sweet and slightly metallic. Good country tick, fair beer.

Bottle from a Russian supermarket in Amsterdam. Clear golden with an off white head. Aroma of light malt and grain, a little cardboard. Flavour is light sweet and bitter. Light bodied with soft carbonation.

Wässriger Antrunk, in dem sehr mild ein herber Ton erkennbar ist. Erfrischend, dann aber trocken mit minimalem Getreide. Wässrig bleibend, zum Ende ein wenig intensiver, angedeutete Süße. Wie erwartet. 8/6/8/5/6/5

Bottle 500 ml. Aroma: hop with sulfur, malt and maize (DMS). Taste: sweet, malty, corn, a bit hops. Sad.

Mild herb getreidiger Beginn. Trocken, die Herbe steigt, geringe Würzigkeit. Süffig, eher langweilig, dabei aber besser als erwartet. 8/8/8/8/6/8

Bottle split at GBBF ’15, day 3, thanks to Ollie Jobbins 13/08/15. Clear golden blonde with a moderate off white covering. Nose is pale malt, grain, paper, light grass. Taste comprises much the same. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Meh.

GBBF Day 3. Bottle - thanks again to Olliejobbins for filling in the country blanks. Almost clear gold beer, thin white head. Palate is smooth and light, modest fine carbonation. Sweet pale malts. Sweet citrus. Light finish. Not awful.
