50cl bottle pours clear deep copper with weak off white head. The aroma is pear and apple esters mixing with booziness to go along with a bit of raisins and prunes and some chemical booze. The taste is similar with sweet apples, ripe pear and some honey covered apricot. To midway and into the finish faint noble hops are noticed as well as sugary malt sweetened lagery yeast.

0.5l bottle @ RBNAG11. The first bottle of the evening! Pours a pale golden yellow body, low sidesticking head. Low grainy aroma, some cardboard, a light yeasty tone. Lively carbonation with a thin and weak mouthfeel. Low flavor, thin hints of pale malts and grains. Not a remarkably good beer, but it's drinkable.

Blackhawk VFW, Chicago 500ml ($4): Pours a amber color with a big white head. I was dreading what the aroma could be and I hoped it was as dissimilar from Baltika 9 as could be. Thankfully it wasn’t as bad, but still had that weird strong lager smell to it. Taste is pretty subdued for a strong lager. You have just a little hint of that grossness that usually accompanies this style, but for the most part this was smooth sailing. Also, my hangover did not happen. That is a good thing.
