Description
The first real malting statute was confirmed by the municipal council of Iglau, as the town of Jihlava was called till 1948, in 1579. In 1859, all 123 owners of brewing rights in the town and surrounding villages joined in a new brewery, the present Jihlava Brewery. The brewery in Jihlava was opened in 1861, but the brewery considers the year 1860 as the year of its incorporation. From its incorporation the brewery had mainly German owners. After WWII it was nationalised and then privatised in 1995. In 2008 the almost bankrupt brewery was bought by the Pivovary Lobkowicz group. Under the new owners the brewery returned to the production of beer according to old original recipes.

Bottle from Lidl in Bucharova, Prague. Clear amber body, crystal clear even, off-white head. Lightly fruity, maybe vaguely citric, mildly caramelly malty aroma. Lean, dry taste, vaguely fruity and caramelly, fairly clean, light meaty touches, vaguely bitter-herbal in the finish. Okay!

Old note. Bottle 500 ml. Aroma: spicy hops, good malt, a bit of honey. Taste: slightly sweet, malty, medium hop bitterness, a light warming effect, not bad.
