Description
The first real malting statute was confirmed by the municipal council of Iglau, as the town of Jihlava was called till 1948, in 1579. In 1859, all 123 owners of brewing rights in the town and surrounding villages joined in a new brewery, the present Jihlava Brewery. The brewery in Jihlava was opened in 1861, but the brewery considers the year 1860 as the year of its incorporation. From its incorporation the brewery had mainly German owners. After WWII it was nationalised and then privatised in 1995. In 2008 the almost bankrupt brewery was bought by the Pivovary Lobkowicz group. Under the new owners the brewery returned to the production of beer according to old original recipes.

Aaah, the "Borat Free" as it’s been so affectionately called. Ogi, with whom I’ve drunk it with got it at some random big store around Plzen (thanks!) Ever so slightly misty darker yellow-gold with a big chem white head that went away slow. A fakeish lemony & soggy cornflakes bise, Bitter taste, lemon, corn and tea. Bittersweet odd aftertaste. Lightly stale. Not the worst one around though, I’d dare call it drinkable.

Bottled. Deep golden, small head. Fruity and sweet, medium-full bodied with rounded mouthfeel. Really hoppy, but also very sugary. Rich chewy malt tries to balance it. Long bitterness.
