Cask at Merton Beer Festival July 7th, 8th 2006. Deep, deep brown with barely the faintest trace of a head. Whiff of dark chocolate on the nose and immediately on that initial taste. A sticky beer that coats envelopes your taste buds with its cocoa qualities, nicely bitter and sweet and very drinkable for its strength.

Cask handpull at Market Porter, Borough. Deep chestnut colour. Unusual flavours. Vinous fruits, blackberry, cherry, strawberry fruits plus hay on the aroma. Juicy fruit in mouth. Sharp fruit/dusty hop finish. Not what I was expecting. Bizarre but nice but not sure it quite works.

Cask gravity Londo Drinker BF. Very dark brown with no head. Chocolate/liquorice, kind of chewy/choc, some good bitterness on end. Very satisfying beer if a tad powdery in the mouth

[Cask at GBBF 2005] A hazy orange beer with an off-white head. The aroma is sweet hoppy with a light buttery notes to it too. The flavor is slighlty buttery combined with a good hop presence, leading to a dry bitter end. The body is thin. I’m wondering, if the butter is supposed to be there?

[Cask at Volunteers Arms, GBBF 2005] A hazy orange beer with a light orange head. The aroma is sweet and dominated by ginger, and so is the flavor, which reminds me a lot of a christmas cookie. The ginger and some notes of black peber stings the tongue slightly, before a dry end sets in.

Deep golden. Spicy, and like the rest of this brewery's beers, flowery hop aroma. Rather sweet with medium body. Salty finish.

Named after the northernmost, less touristic, quarter of the Manchester city centre. Golden colour. Sweet. Some flowery hoppiness. Mild finish. A well drinkable bitter, but rather bold.

Golden colour. Strong ginger aroma. Medium bodied and sweetish, but really this is all about ginger. Not my cup of tea, but still I do appreciate this attempt of being different in the beer traditionalist Mecca of Manchester.
