Description
In 2008, Thomas Carteron, winemaker, had been working for a few years in the vines in Londe les Moors in Var when the idea came up to found a microbrewery. 5 years later, the Brasserie Carteron was born in the artisan area of Saint Claude in Saint Tropez and released its first craft beer: “La Trop”.
Little by little, it acquired its unique personality thanks to a real winemaker’s know-how. Along the way, their microbrewery moved to Hyères in 2016 and brewing started there in 2017. Today Mathilde et Thomas Carteron offer more than fifteen French craft beers, all quality beers under the labels La Trop and La P'tite.

33cl bottle from Monoprix Nice Victoire, Nice, France. Big, tanned, head with good retention. Colour is brown with coppery hue against the light, almost clear. Nose is sweet malty, bit caramel, honey, vaguely fruity, bit herbal-spicy. Taste is medium malty base, vaguely fruity, honey, bit herbal, bit candy but dry on the palate, this should be something like previously brewed christmas beer but for me like a bit strange kind of amber ale, drinkable still.

33cl bottle from Monoprix Nice Victoire, Nice, France. Big, white, not long lasting head. Colour is blonde, hazy. Aroma is malty, raw grainy, bit herbal, green leaves. Taste is light malty base, bit grainy, raw herbal touch, 'bio' so if the taste is bit strange should be ok probably, medium carbonation, nothing special.

33cl bottle (4,9%) from Monoprix Nice Victoire, Nice, France. Big, pink, bit long lasting head. Colour is pinky murky, hazy. Aroma is sweet artificial raspberries, raspberries candy, white sugar, bit citrus, grapes? Taste is medium malty base, sugary raspberries, may be grapes also but all together is so sugery sweet with touch of lemon so hard to rate this as a beer.

33cl bottle from Monoprix Nice Victoire, Nice, France. Medium, white, very quick gone head. Colour is blonde, hazy. Nose is a lot of citrus peels, banana, coriander, wheat sourness, mineral. Taste is light malty base, wheat, mineral, bit banana, orange, coriander, medium carbonation, quite messy for the style yet still somehow refreshing for me.

Bottle found at the SAQ, has a fancy pull-tab cap. Says 4.9% on the side. Pours foamy seven-up heavily carbonated. Aroma is sugary cloying sweetness with a hint of cabbage vegetables. Flavour is soft rose wine with some sweetness on the back end, rosewater perhaps, floral for sure. Dry finish. Flavour is quite nice but this is not a good looking, nor good smelling, beer.

Wheaty and slightly spicy aroma, hints of banana, apple purée, a touch of coriander and orange peel. Taste is slightly sweet wheaty, citrusy, and minimally spicy, hints of orange and lemon peel. Refreshing - OK.
