Description
Brew Age is a young and innovative company taking old brewing traditions and developing them further. The newly created beers and beer styles are then to offer new impressions and flavours to the beer expert and the beer newbie alike.
We went through various scenarios in our heads: our own brewery vs. gypsy brewing, establishing a brand and, most importantly, developing recipes. Finally we settled on the concept of gypsy brewing. Following an intense search for a partner brewery, we finally managed to start our cooperation with Reinhold Barta at Brauhaus Gusswerk. Today, we still brew our beers at Gusswerk, and in a way you can call us sedentary gypsy brewers: in contrast to classic gypsy brewers, who produce their beer (or have it produced) at various breweries, we brew our beers almost exclusively at Gusswerk, strictly according to our own specifications. For the near future, we are planning to build our own brewery in Vienna.

330 ml bottle, bought at Craft Bier Fest Wien.
Dark amber, clear body, with a small, quickly dissipating, white head.
Aroma of nuts, dark and dried fruits, caramel, bread.
Taste follows this, with the nuts even more determined and with some additional citric hops.
Medium to full, creamy mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation.
Finishes alcohol warming, bitter-sweet, with citric hops and sweet malts.
Nice, but very unusual for a Barley Wine. As mentioned before in another rating, feels more like a dark bock beer. The nutty malts and the citric hops are nice, but I’m definitely missing some complexity or diversity. Quite one-dimensional for this style in my opinion, while it still is nice to drink.

Bottle @ home. Clear orange golden color, medium to full sized white to off-white head that lasts for quite a while. Aroma is incredibly hoppy, lovely grapefruit, citrussy, huge tropical fruits and fruit hops. Taste lightly malts, again huge hops, huge tropical fruits and fruit hops. Medium body, medium carbonation. Super easy drinkable super hoppy beer. Love it!

330 ml bottle, bought at Craft Bier Fest Wien, bottled on 29.10.2014
Very dark brown body, with a big, creamy, dark beige head.
Aroma of coffee, wood, some smoke, some chocolate, some dark fruits.
Taste is roasty and dry, with pretty much the same aromas, but also slight citric hops from the background.
Medium, creamy mouthfeel, with a lively carbonation.
Finishes long, roasty, bitter and dry.
Tasty! Dark, roasty and dry, just how a good Stout should be. Still quite easy to drink. Surely one of the best Stouts from Austria, by a brewery that I really like more and more with every new beer!

Draught at Craft Bier Fest Wien.
Amber, moderate hazy body, with a big, creamy, white head.
Aroma of berries, tropical fruits, caramel, bubblegum.
Tastes of Citrus, pine, berries, tropical fruits, biscuit, caramel.
Medium, creamy mouthfeel, with a lively carbonation.
Finishes bitter, with lemon zest, pine and also sweet fruits.
Nice one! A bit too much malt sweetness for me, but really nice fruity and bitter hops. Also quite easy to drink. Another very good beer from this Viennese brewery, like almost all from them!

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein fast schwarzes Bier mit einer sehr schönen bräunlichen Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr röstmalzig, Kaffe, aber auch gleichzeitig sehr hopfig, reife Früchte. Geschmack sehr schokoladig, Vanille, bitter, sehr hopfig, Kaffee, klasse!

750 ml bottle.
Brown, clear body, with a small, creamy, dark beige head.
Moderate, sweet, a bit boozy aroma, with dried fruits, caramel, smoke, wood.
Taste is about the same, but less boozy and with pretty dominant smoke.
Mouthfeel is medium, quite oily, with a low carbonation and it finishes roasty, bitter-sweet and with dried fruits.
Not bad. Not as full as I expected, moderate and not very complex aromas. The smoke notes are nice, but overall a bit too flat for my liking.

330ml bottle, thanks to Geiserich! Pours black with two finger beige head. Beautiful CDA aroma. Taste is wonderfully chocolatety & malty with a nice bitter pine edge and lovely roasted elements tucked neatly behind. An excellent Black IPA.
