Description
Baeren Brewery is located in Morioka, Iwate prefecture which belongs in far north up from Tokyo Japan. We have some traditional and old vintage brewing equipment from southern district of Germany and carried here into Morioka. The traditional way of beer brewing still lives on here and Mr. Miyaki who got certificated as a Brewmeister in Berlin, Germany makes great and beautiful beers. The location of our brewery is perfect also for hiking because it is located near the center of the city and stands just by Route 4 but at the same time surrounded by a forest, which means you can easily and naturally feel the nature around.

Last beer of the fest, I wanted to start with this but they didn’t tap it until a few hours before the fest finished… Nice orange brown with tan foam. It’s bready peppery and very dry. Yummy. Tap @ Ibaraki Bakuon

Bottle from the brewery by mail order Autumn tasting set. Slightly more hazy than the filtered version. Grassy, citrus, more hoppy nose, it seems. More ester flavor by a hair. Very similar. Slightly more flavorful and fuller body. Wins by a hair.

Bottle, mail order from the brewery. Nutty, bready malt nose, very fruity hops and possibly yeast. Orange, lemon. Very rich malt but not heavy. Clear deep gold. Fruity flavor, grainy malt, toasted bread, light nuts. Crisp and light, with a citrus, grassy, herbal hop finish and light to medium bitterness, very dry. Highly drinkable.

Bottle, mail order from the brewery in their Autumn tasting set. Nutty malt nose, caramel, dark wheat bread, touch of chocolate, toast. Very complex and rich nose, with some light fruity esters and a bit of herbal hop as well. Clearly unfiltered and cloudy dark brown with a tight white head. Malty, nutty, fruity, herbal hops, medium bitterness. Malt driven but will balanced. Not quite as impressive as the nose. Body is lighter than the nose led me to expect, actually quite crisp and drinkable, with a long lasting hop bitterness and a bit of yeastiness too. I should get one of their regular Alts to drink them side by side.

Good stuff. The lighter alcohol takes the edge of the usual sweetness a bit.
