Tap at 1020. Pretty, deep pastel golden color. Nice bready wheat and yuzu nose. Flavors of yuzu and bread. No coriander. Nice bitterness. Full enough body but very crisp, a witbier moving towards a fruity wheat ale. Good stuff.

330 ml bottle from AEON Liquors @ Jiyugaoka. Rye beers are quite popular in Estonia, almost every new brewery tries to brew one these days. This one, however, was my first rye weizen. Poured cloudy and hazy, whitish orange with a nice top that stays. Looks like a weizen should look! Aroma reveals already the rye content of this beer - with usual banana and wheat you get also some black bread notes. Nice. It is nicely carbonated, cleans my palate well. A bit spicy, spritzy, really refreshening, having an extra bitter bite from rye I guess. This beer went down really well, even surprised me. Maybe I was thirsty also but this cold one really hit the spot.

Bottle from a set on rakuten. now 4% Served in a flute type glass. Drunk side by side with their regular Apple Lager. Looks almost identical to the regular Apple Lager, just a few SRM points deeper gold. This has a more pronounced apple aroma than the regular, tart apples and yeast that makes me think of vanilla yoghurt in a good way. Medium body, sweet taste kind of sake like. Tart, yeasty, apples. In the crystal the malts don’t show up so much. In this beer the yeast & apples are the star of the show. For two beers that have almost identical names and look almost the same as well the difference in taste is very noticeable. This beer verges on a cider, actually they made a cider too(7%!) I wish I’d kept it for this tasting. The sweetness can get a touch cloying as you finish the bottle but pretty good though too sweet and not so beer like. Also not as clean tasting as their regular apple lager...

6% bottle from the brewery via Rakuten. Lovely clear amber pour with a thick off-white head. The aroma is slightly grainy, sweet, a bit of graham notes. The nose reminds me of an English ale. The taste is malty, biscuity while the finish is a clean bitterness and a bit of a grainy vegetal note in the finish, pretty good. Served at 11C. Once it warmed up you got more caramel/toffee coming through. 

Bottle from the brewery via Rakuten. Surprisingly now 7%! A cloudy gold with minimal head but a zesty carbonation. The aroma is fresh apples like I am in an orchard. The taste is fruity, tangy apples, yeasty a bit sour but it has a pretty full mouthfeel. A yummy cider from Baeren. My wife finds it has a bit of a sake taste

Draft - Plums and raisin on the nose. Clear mahogany with a thin head. Plum, raisin and brown sugar. No sense of alcohol and a clean finish. Not bad.

Tap at 1020. Deep, fruity nose, raisin, fresh plum, licorice. Deep, fruity flavor, tangy, light orange, fudge, caramel. A bit of unwanted Sprite in there as well. Bitter finish. A decent dubbel.

Draft - Wheat, and a bit of mandarin. Cloudy dark orange with a decent beige head. Wheat and a bit of mandarin and a bit of spice. Sounds weird but a bit do umame.

330 ml bottle from Aeon Liquer @ Hon-Atsugi. Pours pale, slightly hazy with a white bubbly head. Aroma is quite sweet, green apple, bubble gum and a bit of bread crumbs. Taste is actually not so sweet - but apples are still there. Somewhat cider-like taste where you have acidity from apples balanced with malt roundness. A bot of hops left in the aftertaste, lingering on you tongue, feeling like slightly bitter apple peels. Quite pleasant and better than I expected.

5% bottle from the brewery via rakuten. A clear gold with a thin white head. The aroma is apple and a yeasty sweetness. Medium bodied, sweet, apple but with a solid malt backbone letting you know it is a beer & not a cider. I concur with KyotoLefty’s rating this is a well done fruit beer. Too many Japanese Apple beers come off like a cider, well done. ----Feb 2014---- Bottle from the same set drunk in a comparative tasting with the Crystal Apple Lager. As they have a Crystal Apple Lager I was expecting this to be cloudy but it is a clear gold with a fizzy white head that leaves good lacing behind. The nose is a malt earthiness with mild apple aroma. Kind of like an apple orchard. The taste is slightly sour apples with a good biscuity malt base & some grassy lightly bitter hop presence in the finish. Medium body. A subtle apple lager that doesn’t forget it is a beer & verge into cider territory. Good stuff.
