Description

Hazy dullish gold, almost no head. Smells spicy and with a touch of cooked cereals. The spicy is kinda aggressive at first - bandaid and such - but fades away after a while. What is left - vague cooked fruit and harsh burnt oil like notes. No sugary syrup, like in the prototype. The taste is surprisingly robust after the disappointing aroma - vague dry malty notes with just a touch of fruit, crisp peppery Belgian bitterness, which seems to be mostly hop-derived. Almost no carbonation, and that must be a major blow to the overall experience. All in all, a pretty good non-alco, and one that is actually drinkable.

BOTTLE. Hazy amber, fine bubbled ivory head that holds on well. The aroma is subtle white bread crust, a tiniest bit of fruit and hard phenolic coriander-like spice. Similar taste - the malts and yeast are there, but the tough boozy lingering bitterness is all over them. Body, expectedly rich yet deceivable easy drinking. For the die hard Belgophiles. I like it.

4/8/2018. Bottle courtesy of ciocanelu, cheers for this one. Pours hazy golden with a foamy white head. Aroma of hops, herbs, flowers, citrus, yeast and a hint of vanilla. Moderate sweetness with medium bitterness. Medium body, slight creamy texture, average carbonation. Increasing bitterness to finish. Nice drop.

BOTTLE. Hazy ruby, giant pink head. The aroma is mildly funky with subtle cherry notes - fruit stone bitterness as well as fruit flesh perfume. The taste is even less fruity - basically a spicy pleasantly warming Belgian ale, with little sweetness, an easy drink body and only subtle cherry notes. Light to moderate hoppy / boozy bitterness in the aftertaste. Very well done.
