Description

330ml bottle from the brewery (noroc, Cez!). Pours cloudy golden with a thin white head. Aroma: mild spices, yeast, floral/herbal hops, also slightly medicinal/perfumey. Taste: bready malt, yeast, spices, coriander, again there’s a bit of a perfumey note to this, not sure if intentional but it feels a little out of place, finishes with a spicy bitterness. Medium bodied, good carbonation, smooth mouthfeel. It’s alright but could do with some improvement.

330ml bottle from the brewery (noroc, Cez!). Pours cloudy golden with a frothy white head, disappearing after a while. Aroma: wheat, lemon, banana, coriander, grass, yeast. Taste: wheaty, yeasty, doughy... citrus, lemon, banana, coriander, cloves, light sweetness and a spicy bitter finish, also slightly floral. Light-medium body, good carbonation, smooth mouthfeel. Great first beer from a new brewery, and a good example of a Witbier. Foarte bine.

BOTTLE 33 CL from Băcănia Nouă, Iași. Hazy golden-amber, creamy white head. The aroma is not too strong, pale stone fruit, hint of white bread crust, hints of gluey alcohol. Similar taste - light beady, light fruity, spicy warming alcohol. Moderate herbal-woody bitterness. Chewy mouthfeel, massaging carbonation. Certainly a Tripel, though not the brightest one.

BOTTLE 33 CL from Băcănia Nouă, Iași. Murky red-brown, light beige head. Smells of roast cereals, prunes - both dried and fresh, a touch of stale barrel. Taste: somewhat harsh roasty bitterness upfront, moderate dark malts sweetness, notes of dark fruit, stale barrel. The finish turns to dark fruity tartness, hint of cheese dipped in black currant jam, moderate to strong hoppy bitterness with notes of ashes. And that lingering unwashed barrel taste... Promising, but flawed.

Draft at BCBF 2018. Fresh orange, bright coriander, light spicy buttmess. Fresh and vibrant - supremely quenching. Great. 7-4-7-4-15=3,7

BOTTLE 33 CL from Băcănia Nouă, Iași. Cloudy golden, snow white head. Tart wheat beer aroma, dusty apricot, pine apple, lemon rind, notes of clementines, a little bit of old cheese spice. Classic witbier taste, unmalted wheat roughness, notes of tart fruit, a little distant honey sweetness, flowers - nice, strong (by witbier standards) spicy bitterness. Nice and clean. Massging carbonation. Very good. 7-4-7-4-14=3,6
