Bottle picked up at the brewery in Hamamatsu with the cool retro typographic label instead of the cutesy cartoon one. It pours a dark reddish nutty brown with a thick beige head of foam that clings to the glass. The aroma is a bit grainy with oat/wheat notes & a soft milk chocolate aroma. Interesting. Medium bodied, this beer has some sweet lactic qualities evoking a milk stout. The taste is a touch sour with chocolate dominating but it does have a bit of roastiness. It has a really effervescent carbonation. An interesting dark beer, lighter than most porters with a sweet+sour lactic vibe over chocolate. Tasty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

One last beer to relax with before bed... Tenjingura’s Weizen. 5%, bottle from the brewery for 410 yen-old school typography label. A cloudy honey gold, a touch darker than your average weizen-great thick head of foam though. The aroma is sweet, spicy, cloves & possibly a bit of pepperiness... & some subtle banana. Medium bodied, sweet, yeasty clove & mild banana notes, some butteriness. It’s nice but a bit too yeasty, another decent beer from Tenjingura.

They no longer seemed to have any taps, just bottles at the brewery... So bottle drunk at the brewery, 410 yen. The beer is a crystal clear gold with a soft grassy & earthy nose. It had a good head of foam but left behind minimal lacing. The malt profile is a bit rough or grolsch like but it has a crisp refreshing dry finish. Just enough bitterness in the finish to keep it interesting. This is not really my style of beer but I can imagine it being very thirst quenching on a hot summer day. A really solid pils.

On tap at the brewery. Pretty golden color with a decent hoppy aroma. Rich pilsner malt flavor with balanced sweetness, biscuits, and grains. Decent stuff—rather authentic indeed. Decently bitter finish. A bit fruity too. Clean and refreshing. Good stuff.

On tap at the brewery. Rich roasted malt aroma with chocolate and coffee, and a touch of fruity sourness. Well balanced and creamy. Not outstanding, but tasty. A lager.

On tap at the brewery. Creamy, banana and butter aroma. Too much butter. Same for the flavor diacetyl galore. Creamy and sweet bananas. Unbalanced.
