Canned, thanks to deft! On June 5, 2010Dark brown color, brown head. Acidic sweet scent. Smoke acidic taste. Thin mouthfeel, low bitterness.

Bottle. Thin, light aroma, mainly malt. Light flavor, slightly fruity, with decent enough balance, but a touch of strange funk and diacetyl. Drinkable but lacking flavor. Probably better than the can, a little.

Big unfermented chocolate malt nose. Big malty backbone, slightly sour. Light chocolately finish. Enjoyable, but not great. Last rating is from 2009 out of a can, but this rating is from brewery which I visited in 2017. medium dark brown color. Medium brown head. Coffee, toffee and dark fruit exudes from the nose. Very malty, not full body enough for the style but lots of coffee, toffee and dark fruit notes. Off sweet.

Like many Japanese brewers, if a beer comes out light colored, it is a Kolsch. I think that is what happened in this case. Clearly they were not intending for a regular kolsch, nor perhaps were they trying to make a decent beer. Just something light, fruit and undistinguished in everyway. It would be going over the top to call this non-offensive as it is much less than that. Last rating is from 2009 out of a can. In 2017 I went to the brewery and new rating reflects that experience. Nice fruity nose with decent cereal notes. Soft body, modest hoppiness, good cereal notes. Slightly grainy finish. Much better than I had in the past.

Bottled at RBJG park session. Dark brown, like American coffee, with rich head. Roasty and sourish with plenty of molasses. Sweet caramelly malt with syrup and rosehip as well as a fruity coffee - chocoalte flavour. Low bitterness.

Canned at RBJG park session. Hazy golden, small head. Fruity and grassy, yet dry. Fairly light bodied with rounded mouthfeel. Streamlined and drinkable without cloying tendencies. Light salty finish.

Can. Rich, smoky, and lightly roasted. Sweet flavor, with caramel and a nice dry roastiness. Great balance—very satisfying, with no strange or overbearing flavors. Very well done for a Japanese bock.

Can from Tokyu in Shibuya. Fruity aroma, light caramel, some hops. Rather dry in general. Typical medium copper color with a low off-white head. Somewhat thin malt flavor, with some caramel and pretty good hopping. A touch of sour as well. Not much going on really. Dry finish is pleasant enough. Rather thin body as well. Very thin, watery, and uninspired Altbier.

I’m honestly not sure if it’s a Kolsch, but from the little available online about this brew that seems to be the most plausible answer. I do know, however, that this is not worth buying. A very sharp metallic tinge is noticeable right from the start. Nearly offensive malts and a sour finish make this one not worth anyone’s time.
