Bottle: Poured a light brown color ale with a medium size foamy head with OK retention and light lacing. Aroma of caramelized malt notes with soft biscuit notes. Taste is also a mix of caramelized malt notes with soft biscuit notes and a semi-dry finish. The body is about average with good carbonation. Well brewed altbier with good drinkability.

Tap at the Beer Museum. Lemony nose, nicely hoppy, rich malt. Snappy, light, nice hops. Decent stuff. Good malt but not too sweet or heavy.

Tasting at Matt’s
Dark brown color. Roasted malt aroma and some cheese, metallic. Light body, dark caramel, dryish, a bit saline. Roasty dark beer, not belonging to any style.

Bottle, pours a red-tinged deep dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out light brine, a touch of roasted malt, and bready notes. Flavour isn't too pleasing, with a tart briny quality and bready malt subdued. Briny, tart and just off-putting. Not disastrous, but it's not pleasant.

Had this in Kushiro, one of Hokkaido’s premier oyster towns. Dark brown. Light roasty, light acidity, light body. Not all that impressive, thin and a bit tart.

Bottle delivered from the brewery. Pitch black with a great milkshake head. A bit smoky, burnt malt aroma. Creamy, rich and lots of umami. Rich, malty flavor. Creamy and smooth, well roasted. Good balance. Smooth, thick palate. Good stuff. Looks great and feels great. Base beer itself ok-a little like Yebisu Black...

On tap at the brewpub, managed by Sapporo but brewing their own beers. Unfiltered alt. A light orange color. Cloudy, with a low head that quickly vanished. Slightly sweet, medium malt aroma, not fragrant. Reasonably malty, sweetish, fruity flavor. Decent hops. Good, dry hoppy finish. Malt character is lacking. Fruity and sweet with good hops but weak malt. Thin. Disappointing though ok.

On tap at the brewpub, managed by Sapporo but brewing their own beers. Light wheat aroma. Not much there. Seems to have a rather low percentage of wheat malt, as the wheat flavor is very light. More like a British style wheat ale than a weizen. Disappointing. Not much flavor. Decent hops, though.

On tap at the brewpub, managed by Sapporo but brewing their own beers. Sweet and juicy with little beer flavor. Ok berry flavor, somewhat natural, but doesn’t taste like beer at all. Too sweet.
