Biscuity and dry, with a resinous middle and a lasting bitterness in the fade. Hops provide grapefruit and lemon zest slathered in pine, with a lingering woody finish mixed with earthy notes and toasted grain. Clingy bitterness is a nice change of pace, and the Maris Otter gives a bready heft to the middle. Nice beer.

Draft pour at Dominion Wine and Beer. Poured a totally hazy, almost dull neon green/yellow color with a small off-white head. Aroma was a little west coast spin on a hazy IPA? Lemon balm? Bitter grapefruit. Coriander?

Once again confronted with the problem of giving ample lemon flavor to a style that tastes like lemon in the first place. Tart acidity verges into carbonated lemon juice territory, with a subtle grainy sweetness and mild lemon pith bitterness on the back end. Not bad, just redundant.

Alluring and intriguing, flowing with grapefruit, lemon drops, melon, peach, mint, and hints of dank, set against a moderate grainy sweetness and a modest bitter finish. Fade brings out touches of cedar, berry, and resin. Soft, easygoing texture combines with a medium-full body to create a ridiculously easy-to-drink 9% IIPA. Delicious.

So Mexican hot chocolate imperial stout might be one of the best damn things human culture has produced thus far. New Realm's take on the style comes off bittersweet and strong, with pronounced notes of cocoa and vanilla on top of molasses, anise, and dried cherry, followed by a moderate burst of cinnamon and a welcome pepper bite. Finishes dry and bitter, with a subtle but tangible heat. Delicious.

Tall boy can. Clear, honey golden with lace. Nose is honey, citrus, biscuits, guava. Soft body. Big honey flavor, lemon, tropical fruit. A bit too sweet and almost syrupy in the old IIPA way.
