Tasting set @ Furusato matsuri. Pours dark brown, not very foamy. Nose is lightly roasty, some caramel and light wheat sourness there. Tastes actually nicely dry, light roast, relatively balanced - although overall quite basic and not too interesting, this beer at least feels not infected. Impresses me more like a usual dunkel, weizen part quite under-represented.

Tasting set @ Furusato matsuri. Poured darker godlen or orange, somewhat hazy (or a bit muddy). Still looking more or less presentable. Nose is sweetish, some residue sugars and some fruity notes. Tastes relatively fresh, a bit too sweet as hops are not really balancing this out - but still relatively pleasant to drink. I guess this must be quite freshly brewed, different infections this brewery clearly struggles with have not yet had time to kick in.

Tasting set @ Furusato Matsuri. Poured muddy (or hazy) brownish straw. Not sure about the foam but nose was not very elegant, kind of rough and still yeasty. Taste malty-rough at first, pretty sweet - and then turning vile, nail polish in the finish. Would be really bad even as a homebrew - I don't know why but somehow still managed to finish that tasting sample I had.

Rating from memory. Although people criticize this because they think your notes wont be as accurate, but no one every criticizes it because it forces you to relive a terrible moment in your life. I cringe as reflect back to the moment at the Furusato Matsuri where I decided to challenge people who said that Paradise Factory's beers recently were vile, as I had been to the brewery and they weren't that bad. Without looking at what the other beers looked like that they were pouring, I blindly ordered this Session IPA, which I knew I had not had. It poured the murkiest dirty brown amber color you can imagine. Not turbid and cool like a NE IPA, but like a beer that hadn't had enough time to ferment and was prematurely released without any thought to how the beer would taste. I didn't realize the look was probably best part of this bile rotten vegetable and sewage brew. The smell made me gag, but I persisted. The taste induced choke reflects. I tried another sip and immediately looked for somewhere to dispose this beer. Rancid. Amazing that at the Furusato Matsuri they allowed such brew to be sold. Horrific.

5daughters Life is Paradise 5% I was given this by a friend for the new J-brewery tick but was told it would probably be a drain pour. The label says it is a “white ale with sake lees”. Golden in color with a thick soapy looking head and leaves a bunch of globs on the glass. The aroma is a weird sour funk with medicinal or metallic notes. The taste is like battery acid. Uggh, worst beer in like a decade. Light bodied, dry and undrinkable. It’s taking all the courage I can muster to go in for a second sip. Ugggh blegh, I did it. The smell is ok, the body is too but then sits in your stomach like a lump of lead while the taste is unbelievably foul. The things I do for research... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from the brewery. SLightly funky nose, orange, coriander, wheat. Clear. Fruity, spicy flavor, a bit off but not infected like the last two beers I had from them. Not great but not too bad.

Bottle. The second of 5 different beers in a 6 pack. Hope it is better than the first. Similar kind of infection in the nose-mineral, dusty, dirty, with some citrus. Some wild bacteria is eating away at this. Hazy orange-amber with a tall, airy, infected-looking head. Flavor is dry, detergent, minerals, light malt and citrus hops. Not as repugnant as the 5 Daughters but still infected and far from good. Not sure if it's the bottling system, as TimE found the beers good enough at the brewery.

Bottle sent from the brewery for Furusato Nozei. Stinky, rancid nose of infection, plus some lemon or grapefruit and dirty socks. Hazy, dull, deep golden color with a high head. Gross. All kinds of nasty, dirty flavors, dirty dish water, soap, old sweat, bit of lemon. infected nastiness that should never have left the brewery. Hopefully this is just a problem with the sake lees they used as yeast, because I have 4 more beers from them and if they are this bad, it is gonna be rough.

beautiful hazy golden white color. Very dry nose with banana cream pie. Smooth mouth but not a ton of character. Not nearly as yeasty as it should be for the style. Super drinkable though. On a hot summer day this would really hit the spot. Overall a stepping stone weizen though.

medium amber color. Thick frothy white head. Very very dry nose with apricot but one dimensional. Hops seem stale in both beers. Good mouth feel but not nearly as hopped as I would want for an IPA. Fuller body than the pale ale. Slight bitterness in finish. Stepping stone IPA that probably works in the countryside.
