On tap at Steel & Oak, pours an opaque maroon with a small beige head. Aroma is very strange, with red stone fruits and bready malt. Flavour is just bizarre, with toasted chestnuts upfront, some skunky herbal notes, and maybe a touch of the sourness. Not a typical sour brown by any means. Not bad, but something seems off here. Needs work.

On tap at Steel & Oak, pours a cloudy golden orange with a small off-white head. Nose brings sharp citric notes and some rather astringent bitterness. Flavour is similar, with a harsh hop bitterness, some citric notes and a dry bready malt backing. Not the smoothest beer by any means - rather harsh in fact, especially for a pale ale. Not a disaster but pretty messy. Not a fan.

On tap at Steel & Oak, pours a cloud orange with a small off-white head. Aroma is pretty restrained, with toasted bready malt and lager yeast. Flavour is about the same, with light spiciness from the rye and biscuity malt. Clean enough but lacking in complexity. Not the best flavours either. Okay.

Growler. Hazy, fruity, slightly honeyish, bit melony with lots of spice. Decently bitter, a touch of melon and bitter herbal notes. not quite as bright on the palate as the nose, but pretty good.

On tap at the Alibi Room, pours a cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out toasted bready malt and German lager yeast - not getting any hint of sourness on the nose. Flavour is pretty similar - lots of bready malt, lager yeast and an ever so slight hint of tartness, but not really what I'd label as sour. Boring but clean. Okay.

Draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver
Cloudy light amber color with creamy head. The aroma is delicate and original; there is some dust, light fruits, perfumy talc. The mild sourness blends in well, but the base beer seems to be needing something more, better flavor. It’s smooth, it has ordinary bitterness. Some chalky astringency in the final.
Not a bad beer, not a beer I’m looking forward to drink again, not adding much to the personal experience.
