Cask at Tap & Barrel, Coal Harbour, Vancouver
The casks at T&B are usually moved to the bar half hour before tapping them; no surprise that the beer is murky; golden to light amber color with small creamy head. The aroma is fruity and hoppy; oranges, some mango, light hop sweat, very light mint. Round and soft mouthfeel; good body structure, lean and easy to drink; good malt flavor, very rich and present, moderately sweet, with a toffee accent, almost biscuity; strong expected and balanced bitterness, leading to a very good final, with harmony of piney resins and bold citrus fruit peel, like bitter oranges.
Despite having been shaken, and with all that yeast in suspension, it’s a relatively clean brew.
Fresh and dangerous.

Draught. Hazy red with a tan head. Aroma is caramel malt, a little citrus. Flavor is fruity, malt and a bit of metal. Sweetish finish

On tap at the Alibi Room, pours an opaque vibrant orange with a small beige head. Aroma brings out citrus hops, a big caramel malt backbone and some metallic notes. Flavour brings out resinous and citrus hops, with a huge caramel malt backbone. Too much malt for the style, but it's still decently drinkable.

On tap at the Alibi Room, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out very lightly roasted malt, toasted bread, and some earthy notes. Flavour is similar, bringing out smooth toasted malt, earth, and some weird vegetal notes. Very smooth on the palate, but the flavour profile is a bit off. Not the most refined stout, but drinkable nonetheless.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Black color with compact head. Roasted malt aroma and flavor; the mouthfeel is dry and the flavor is just a bit too ashy; ordinary bitterness, with a dusty feeling.
Minimal achievement for a Stout.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Hazy amber color with compact head. Mild aroma of malt and caramel. Some malt and caramel flavor, not too dry, with medium impact from the Belgian yeast (it’s evident, but it’s not characteristic like in real Belgians), correct bitterness; overall it’s quite solid. The only negative trait is a slight metallic finish.
Pleasant.

A reddish copper amber ale with a thin white head. In aroma, smooth caramel malt with good grassy British hops, candy sugar, nice. In mouth, a smooth fruity malt with light tropical fruits, floral hops, nice. Cask Days 2013.

On tap. A lightly hazy beer topped by a decent, off-white head. Lightly citrusy and malty aroma, some caramel notes, all quite weak. Rather boring flavor too, there’s no real errors going on, it’s just boring. Lacking a bit on bitterness I think. It sort of reminds me of a generic boring bitter, so it’s not completely free for hops though. Medium body, soft carbonation. A boring beer I sure won’t miss. 130704
