Aoi Brewing Hollyhock Christmas Ale,.  This was a guest beer half-pint at Marca. It pours an opaque brown/red. The aroma is freshly baked bread and cinnamon. Med-full bodied this is a sweet cinnamon Bomb with a big dose of breadiness. A bit too much spicing but pretty good for what I am guessing is a first attempt at a Christmas beer.

Aoi Beer Honnori Ocha Ale 5.5% on tap at the Bincan Fes 2015. A beer made with tea, it pours an orange gold. The nose is very earthy with light tea leaf notes. The taste is the same with a bitter tea astringency and some tangy fruit notes. This is a weird beer but I guess it is ok. Aoi Brewing needs to step things up...

Aoi Subtle IPA 6.3% on tap at the Bincan Fes 2015. It pours a surprisingly dark orange-amber-brown that had me thinking they poured me the alt by mistake but I was assured they hadn’t. Weird malty sweet aroma with just hints of hope has me thinking again this is the alt. Seriously, this is the IPA??? It tastes like an alt. It doesn’t look like an IPA. As an IPA it’s a bit of a fail... Malt caramel with a light citrusy bite and cocoa in the finish... It grew on me I guess it can be some kind of weird IPA...

Zweitracht Weiss 6.3% Aoi brewing. A very clear orange gold. Lemongrass & coriander nose. The taste is really well balanced with a kind of yoghurt malt quality and the spices are much more subtle. This is delicious, the best I’ve had from Aoi. Seems it is a witbier recipe fermented with a weizen yeast but I didn’t get much of a weizen character from it. One word though, yum.

Tap at Qbrick. Bright gold. Herbal nose, malty, citrus hops, clean but herbal. Nicely dry flavor, good malt backbone. Too much herb for my liking, but well made with a good, dry bitterness. Best beer by them so far.

On tap at qbrick. Pours out a orangeish topped with a small head. Nose is some citrus hops and a little malt. Taste is more of the same. A pretty lack luster attempt at a ipa.
