Interesting, tomato aroma and vegetable taste with tomato hints. Tomato purée, hint of sweetness, some beer in there too. Alright. Tomato is surprisingly subtle.

pale hazy golden color. Dry nose slightly tart, nice drinks yeast character, a touch of honey but smoke is hidden. The palate is medium full body, touch of smoke and yeast. Modest hoppiness. Dry funky yeasty finish with good citrusy notes. Nice stuff

I didn’t realize when I ordered this that it was a Black IPA. I very much dislike Black IPAs. With that out of the way, I very much enjoy this beer. it’s the most stout like BIPA I’ve encountered. Roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, light hop profile. Honestly. This is just a mildly hoppy stout. A bit of a bite in the finish. Tasty brew.

Tap @ BeerFes Yokohama, September 17th, 2017. Pours whitish yellow, some haze. Nose has biscuits, stuffy barley and some vegetable notes. Not much bitterness or fruitiness there. Tastes actually nice. Sweetish umami gives this beer a full body, light sour notes and fruity elements. Finish is dry, bit sour and overall very different from what I expected from a tomato beer. Not bad, not bad at all. Of course not that great either but well drinkable.

Tap at the brewpub. Orange-brown color, cloudy, with lace. Hoppy nose, pine, bread, biscuit. bitter and resiny with citrus and biscuits. Decent, rather old school.

Tap at the brewpub. Brown-orange, a bit hazy, with lace. Nice ginger nose, some citrus. Malty biscuit flavor with ginger and some caramel. Malt is coming through nicely to match the ginger, which is the main flavor profile but is not over the top and burning. Good one.
