I believe I was told this is a blend of their Hop Colossus, their BA Hop Colossus and a third Pale Ale made just to blend into their First Anniversary Ale. Lovely bright amber with an edgy whiskey sweet perfumey aroma that is a great mix of maltiness and Barrel character. Lovely sweet flavor, mesquite, oak, malt, fantastic. Great subtle use of barrel aging and even better it’s got a reasonable ABV meaning you could enjoy more than one.

At the brewery. Tart wheat and musty sourness, ok but a bit off-putting in terms of the sour characteristics it has. The taste is wheaty tart lemon with just a dash of that sourness.

lil confused at the brewery 5.3% a mild honey hold with a wonderful peppery simcoe(guava baby) hoppy and wheaty Weizen aroma. Lovely light body, clean flavor of juicy guava and tropical fruits awesome.

Sugar Foot on tap at Spangalang it was a musty funky tart wheat Gose aroma. Light bodied with a round carbonation, the taste gives you sweet wheaty melon and mild spice. Very easy drinking.

Sample at Collaboration Fest on 03/19/2016. Clear golden color with a medium bone white head that evaporates steadily to a film. Sticky small patches of lacing. Aroma of fruit, grassy hops and malt. Light-bodied with flavors of herbal hops, fruit and biscuit malt. The finish is mildly bitter with a grassy hop aftertaste. Decent overall.

Taster at the brewery - I’m a big fan of the base beer and this is an example of bourbon barrel aging done correctly - the barrel adds hints of bourbon, vanilla, and toasted coconut, but it is not overbearing or boozy - slight vinous notes of the original remain - some of the rougher edges and roast have been mellowed out and softened - nicely done.

Tulip at the brewery - I very much appreciate the expression of the yeast in this one - dense phenolics (pepper, clove), moderate esters (banana), earth/dust - the character keeps the sweetness in check and makes this a bit better than the characterless malt bombs a lot of American versions become - it’s a bit boozy and hot on the tail end, so perhaps a bit young - slight finishing stickiness - it’s pretty good.

10 ounce at the brewery - clear pale gold - extremely hoppy lager, to the point of being kind of abrasive and harsh on the palate - there’s a weird vitamin B flavor going on through the middle - dry and flinty finish, with harsh peppery hoppiness - somewhat unclean malt flavors - meh.

Tulip at the brewery - turbid dark gold - substantial lace - soft but full texture - there is a good hefe hiding in here - peppery phenols, light clove, soft wheat - but the dry hopping brings too much bitterness and citric flavor that make it less enjoyable to me - still not bad.

10 ounce at the brewery - these guys always do IPA well - I’m not the biggest fan of the hop blend here (the simcoe is giving off some garlic to me), but it is still nicely balanced and not overly sweet - the crystal malt does have some sweetness that lends an herbal tea quality as it blends with the hops - centennial hops provide a nicely all American citrus and pine quality on the tail end - well-executed, just not my favorite.
