Tap at Ape. Orange-amber, hazy, with a tall, fine head. Nose of caramel and orange, minerals, some pine. Sweet caramel flavor some chocolate, very bitter finish, grassy, earthy, with orange and orange rind. Too sweet, treacle and sweet peaches. Not my thing.

Tap at Ape. Deep orange, clear, with a tall, fine head. Spicy, malty nose, grass and citrus. Tart citrus flavor, spicy, dry, nicely hopped. Not too sweet. Crisp and very bitter. Decent stuff.

pitch black color. Big roasty nose with some fruity notes. Mouth has tons of roasted malts with moderate hoppiness. Definitely border line between hoppy stout and black IPA, but well executed and big bitter roasted finish. Not going to set the world on fire, but highly enjoyable nonetheless.

On tap at CBM awajicho. Blonde orange color with s nice creamy off-white head. Big clove and banana nose with hints of peach, star anise and honey. Medium body with a rich and thick mouthfeel. Sweet and slightly sour on the palate. Nice smooth finish with honey-like texture. Pleasantly surprised by this one.

Tap at Yellow Ape. Glowing deep orange, cloudy, fine head. Nice nose of Amarillo and Citra, oranges, stone fruits, biscuity malt. Sweet and fruity, orange, phenols. A bit rubbery or soapy. A bit thick and somewhat soda-like as well. Medium bitter finish. Decent, but not quite there.

Tap at iBrew. Malty, estery nose, stone fruits, spices. Cloudy pale amber color. Malty, rather sweet, stewed peaches, dirty, estery hop and yeast. Ok.

Tap at 23 Craft Beers, Nagoya. 5.5%. Dark ruby pinky color, small off-white head. Caramel and malts in the nose. Medium-bodied. Caramel, ryeish maltyness and light hops in the flavor. Quite standard red/amber ale without big faults but a bit lame.

On tap at Beer Keyaki Spring 2014. A cloudy mildly pink pour with a thick filmy head. A decent medium bodied beer with a zesty mouthfeel. The taste is yeasty, spicy and ok. Comparable to the zakkoku weizenbock maybe a smidge better.

On tap at Beer Keyaki Spring 2014. A super muddy brown pour, kind of unattractive. Surprisingly chocolate+cacao aroma. Decent nose but not to style. Medium to full bodied, smooth with a nice bitter finish. The taste is crystal & dark malts with a strong dose of cacao & some fruity hop bitterness. Bizarre but tasty not really a red ale...
