Bottle. A- Tangerines, citrus. A- Orange color, hazy liquid, off white head. T- Citrus, medium bitterness, juicy. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, slightly dank finish. O- A seriously citrusy nose. Bursting with ripe tangerines. Taste was a bit more bitter but not half bad!

12 ounce bottle. Slightly hazy orange brown color. Small creamy beige head. Earthy green coffee aroma hints at caramel. Flavor mirrors nose with a tangy vegetal character to boot. The combination of the salted caramel and coffee flavors don’t work. Off flavors abound. Some hop bitterness in finish. Meh.

From a bottle this stuff is just a little tart but not as tart as you would expect. Its more like a dull cherry with a little tartness hiding in the background. Smell is almost sweet artificial cherry candy. Pour is at first clear and iced tea colored and then when it gets to the bottom of the bottle, there is lots of yeasty sediment that comes out and makes it cloudy and almost muddy. Yea, that duller cherry alky sensation sets in thru the middle. Comes across a little heavy. Towards, the end, I'm starting to get used to the dullness. Almost becomes acceptable on the finish. But not quite. Not impressed, was hoping for more of what the label said. To style this as a sour/wild beer is probably a little misleading.

Smooth, but not huge on flavor aside from a nice warm cinnamon finish. Still enjoyable even if I hoped for a little bolder flavor.

I guess I've never been up to ellicottville in the winter, eh? Icy winter cold bottle, near freezing. Yes, super ice cold on the palate, too; very nice. Somewhat wafting flowery perfumy olfactory effects. Less carbonation initially than most fest beers. However, it does develop some cutting co2 in there with big gulps. Taste has a small amount of unwanted hops, unlike civil refined old country festers, but it does not lose sight of what its 'spost to be. Settles down to some oktofest business in the middle. Near the end it tends to develop a slight astringent personality.

Bottle. A- Stewed vegetables, musty. A- Dark copper color, clear liquid, fizzy head. T- Bell peppers, grains, malty, stale coffee. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, astringent finish. O- At first I thought this was simply a bad bottle. Very earthy and vegetal and just off. No salted caramel or really rich coffee detected. Then I had the base beer, Coldspresso immediately after. Just as bad, although they were different SRMs and even ABVS, just a really bad series base and variants alike. Not a fan at all. This was a drain pour.

Bottle. A- Earthy, straw, subtle stale coffee. A- Burnt orange color, hazy liquid, fizzy head. T- Slightly sweet, day old coffee, earthy. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, slightly unbalanced finish. O- Pretty poor beer. Lots of earthy vegetal coffee like two day old watery Folgers. Yuck. Just struggling to find much good with this. Not offensive necessarily, but far from enjoyable.

Can. A- Pineapple, pine, hoppy. A- Golden orange color, hazy liquid, off white head. T- Pineapple, yellow cake, subtle maraschino cherry, bitter, malty. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, slightly bitter finish. O- I have had a lot of Ellicottville lately, they seem to be popping up everywhere. A lot of novelty gimmick brews but most are average or better. This one was definitely an IPA but certainly had the characteristics of a pineapple upside down cake. Did I love it? No. But I really appreciate it for what it was.
