Description
Twin Sails Brewing joined Port Moody’s “Brewers Row” late in 2015, opening right next door to Yellow Dog. The name of the brewery refers to its founders, identical twin brothers, as well as the common sight of sailboats that can be seen on the waters of the Burrard Inlet right out front of the brewery. Twin Sails focuses on progressive American IPAs and stouts and have recently implemented a wild barrel program. They are always trying to push the boundaries of what can be done with beer in BC. Quality comes first and foremost, but in the end, it’s just a bunch of guys and girls having way too much fun brewing beer.

Tall can from the brewery. Canned 25-Nov-2016. Pours a hazy golden with a white head. Aroma is tropical fruits, some bakery spices and sweety notes. Taste is pretty the same with some boozy notes and moderate sweetness. Good.

On tap at the brewery with Alex and Brian during anniversary event. Pours a hazy pale golden with a white head. Aroma is quite weak with some hoppy notes. Taste is smooth with some fruity and piney bitterness. Quite simple, but pleasant and refreshing.

On tap at the Alibi Room, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out lots of lactose and cocoa, smelling essentially like chocolate milk with a bit of roast. Flavour is sweet and roasty, with tons of chocolate and roast upfront, and the perfect amount of residual sweetness than complements and lingers. Thick but not excessively so on the palate. Excellent stuff.

On tap. Pours a dark brown/mahogany with light head. Aromas of nuts, dark sugar and wet toasted malts. Flavors of bready roasted malts, wet bread crusts, more nuts and sugary dark fruit. Right on style but not too inspiring.

Can: Poured a cloudy golden color ale with a nice pure white large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of tropical notes with some citrusy undertones is quite nice. Taste is also a great mix of tropical notes with some citrusy undertones and some residual sugar notes. Body is quite full with great carbonation. Super enjoyable juicy IIPA but not sure I could really detect the Saccharomyces Trois notes.

The aroma of coffee is evident. It's sweet but thin at the same time, lactose sugars rather than heavy sugars from the malt; the coffee flavour is a bit earthy. Weak finish.

Mild coffee and lactose, soft mouthfeel, moderate sweetness. Light fruit in the aroma, apple sauce. Pleasant, with no vibes.

Black colour with no head. Very sweet, but with lean body rather than structure; the coffee is prominent, I'm thinking of office coffee machine; large amounts of lactose too. The light chocolate in the aroma is probably the most interesting part of it.
Not bad, but it seems an uncoordinated mix of elements.

The coffee is very evident in the aroma, roasted malt and coffee in the flavor, moderate lactose sweetness, a bit of creamy feeling, good body strength, balanced.
Very good.

Dark brown color, almost without head. It smells like a pot of coffee from yesterday. Quite dry mouthfeel, thin, flavor is dominated by cheap old coffee, not too roasty, with spicy hints.
Meh.
