Description
Twin Sails Brewing joined Port Moody’s “Brewers Row” late in 2015, opening right next door to Yellow Dog. The name of the brewery refers to its founders, identical twin brothers, as well as the common sight of sailboats that can be seen on the waters of the Burrard Inlet right out front of the brewery. Twin Sails focuses on progressive American IPAs and stouts and have recently implemented a wild barrel program. They are always trying to push the boundaries of what can be done with beer in BC. Quality comes first and foremost, but in the end, it’s just a bunch of guys and girls having way too much fun brewing beer.

On tap at Twin Sails. Pours clear blonde with a white head. Very faint pink lemonade on the nose. Flavour has lemon juice, dry wheat, some lacto. Mild to moderate acidity. Pretty bland and uninteresting.

On tap at Twin Sails. Pours nearly black with a tan head. Tons of toasted coconut, roasted malts, and bourbon barrels on the nose. Flavour has a really nice toasted coconut character, dark chocolate, dark malts, and nice accents from the bourbon barrel. Very nicely done, though it gets a bit rougher and perfumey as it warms.

On tap at Twin Sails. Pours very dark brown with a brown head. Bourbon barrels and stale brown bread on the nose, a bit waxy. Flavour has a lot of very waxy bourbon barrels, tons of heavy malts, dark sugars. It doesn't come together though, very brutal and hamfisted. It's pretty rough.

Aroma: mix of American oak and black chocolate, bold. Zero presence of the fruity character that was found in tap.
Taste: along the same lines - mix of dark chcocolate, American oak. Very smooth with some bourbon notes.
Overall: darn, this is great! ❤️

Taster.
Aroma: bold, berry/fruity notes coming from the barrel.
Taste: along the same lines, nice body, but the berries notes coming from the barrel makes it tasting weird to me. This barrel was selected among the others because it tasted very different, but I am not sure whether this difference makes it unique in a good way.
Overall: ok.

473mL can, pours a hazy pale golden with a medium white head. Nose has some rustic saison yeast, toasted grains (slightly husky), and maybe a touch of pear skin must. Flavour is quite dry, with some rustic saison yeast, pear must, and some toasted grains. Not the most complex saison yeast expression and the esters eventually catch up to you, finishing lightly sweet. It's alright.

Pale, opaque, hazy. Medium head. Some stone fruit hops on the nose. Oaty body, quite creamy. Some hop burn. But it’s okay.

473 ml can. Pours a dull amber with light head. Aromas of honey, cloves, bubble gum, dull citrus and wheaty malts. Flavors follow same. Pretty much on style though with only a light head.
