Draft at the brewery taproom. Pours rich brown with a creamy, tan head. Good balance here. Moderate roasted malts, milk chocolate, hazelnuts. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation and creamy texture. Still well balanced to finish with notes of ash, charred earth and baking cocoa. Solid stout.

Bottle I brought to Dogbones’ apartment for the RBWG early crew Wednesday night. Pours black with brown head. Nose and taste of vanilla, bourbon, oak, coffee, dark fruit, almond and brownie. Deep roast. Medium bodied.

Bottle - Marzipan, vanilla, molasses and oak with the typical bourbon notes. Jet black with a brown head. Oaky bourbon, marzipan, vanilla and roast malts. Nice with a neutral finish, not to sweet or bitter.

Draft at the brewery taproom - Temecula. I fear there was something slightly amiss with the glass of this beer I tried. It wasn’t bad but there were characteristics I would not have expected. Fairly sweet with dried cereal, there are also notes of green pepper and hay. Huh. Lots of odd green pepper notes. Still tasty but I can’t imagine this is as intended.

Draft at the brewery taproom - Temecula. Big herbs in the aroma. Nice balance here, some grass, light sweetness, faint pine, basil. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Dried herbs to finish, mellow dry bready malts. Good stuff. A novelty beer done right.

Draft at the brewery taproom - Temecula. Honestly, if you like cucumber, you will probably like this beer. There is loads of moist cucumber present, with light grassy bitterness and mellow bready sweetness. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Plenty of cleam, wet cucumber to finish. Novel.

Draft at the brewery taproom - Temecula. Pours clear gold with a moderate, white foam head. Solid beer in every respect. Big, dank citrus abounds with good hits of grapefruit and pee. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish with light pine bitterness and further citrusy notes. Outstanding.

Draft at the brewery taproom - Temecula. Pours clear, pale yellow with a faint, white film cap. The nose holds pale biscuits, light hay and crunchy cereal. Light sweet flavor, good and clean, further bready malt character. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Clean finish with light floral notes and hay. A solid sessioner overall.

Bomber from Bine & Vine. Pours very hazy and darkly ruddy with a creamy beige head. Nice whisky aroma. Med + body. Flavor is caramel, treacle and lots of whisky. There’s definitely heat, but it’s coming out as flavor rather than irritating. There’s a lot of whisky flavor, but somehow it’s a lot mellower than most bourbons. Seems to be missing a lot of vanilla. With time there seems to be a fair amount of wood - but that normal astringency seems hidden - perhaps by the heat. This is very tasty stuff. The wood and heat make it seem dry, but at the end of each quaff there’s a sweet burst.
