330ml bottle from the Beer Bank, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear dark copper colour with a short-lived frothy off white head and lots of bubbles. The aroma is grainy malt, floral hops and light smoke. The flavour is moderate to light bitter, with a light, watery, herbal, mineral, super light smoke palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. This won an award at the World Beer Awards? I don’t know how that’s possible. Truly truly awful. I don’t think the brewer knows what a Rauchbier should actually taste like.

330ml bottle from the Beer Bank, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a hazy straw colour with a lasting frothy white head. The aroma is malt, yeast and loads of tropical fruits. The flavour is moderate sweet, with a smooth, rich, fruity, guava and mango, light acidic, herbal palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Not sure what happened to the orange. Way too sweet and really not enjoyable.

330ml bottle from the Beer Bank, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear golden colour with a short-lived fizzy white head and lots of bubbles. The aroma is vinegar, molasses and plums. The flavour is moderate sour, with a crisp, slightly watery, plum, light Brett yeast sour palate. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. Not great. Rather unrefined. I’m sure the sour taste wasn’t coming from the Brett yeast alone. Really disappointing.

330ml bottle from the Beer Bank, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a mostly lasting frothy tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, boozy alcohol, coffee and light chocolate. The flavour is moderate sweet and liqourice bitter, with a rich, oily, red berry fruit, raisins, cherries, super light mocha, coffee, warm boozy alcohol bitter palate. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation. Well hidden alcohol considering the ABV. Hardly any burn. It’s a little disappointing that the brewers can’t even decide what this beer is supposed to be be. On the label it says Mocha Imperial Stout, but there is almost no chocolate and on the website it’s described as a Baltic Porter. Maybe the labels were printed before the beer was brewed and they forgot to add the chocolate!
