Description
In 1995 Harry van de Wiel decided to establish the Stadsbrouwerij Rotterdam. The brewery is decorated in the style of the old town hall of Delfshaven, the wood-copper kettles in which brewing takes place are a good example of this. In the meantime Harry's son has taken over the stirring stick and continues his father's passion.

Pitch black pour with a tall fine-grained tan head with good retention. Notes of whiskey, dark chocolate, roasted coffee, toffee, light peat, vanilla, oak, tobacco, dark cherries. The whiskey is integrated perfectly into this beer, you can actually identify taste notes of the whiskey itself (tobacco, leather, vanilla, citrus) side-by-side with the chocolate and roast of the stout. Fantastic stuff, especially if you enjoy whiskey as well!

Pitch black pour with a short-lived dark tan head. Super peaty smell immediately after opening the bottle. Notes of smoke, ash, peat, roasted malts, dark chocolate, soy sauce. Really intense, full bodied, with a smooth rich texture. Not a big fan of peated beers, in general, but this one I enjoyed quite a bit.

Pitch black with a tan head with medium retention. Notes of roasted malts, lactose, milk chocolate, wood, liquorice, burnt caramel, whiskey and a subtle barrel funk/mould. I love the base beer and this is amazing too, somehow feels like a US stout, leaning a bit to the sweet side, probably due to the added lactose. A bit lighter bodied than the base stout, and with a bit more carbonation. Really good!
