(Can 50 cl) Beautiful, clear reddish brown with a creamy, off-white head that leaves a rich lacework. Very surprising aroma of berries. Medium body with notes of roasted malt and then again - surprisingly - distinct notes of berries - raspberries and juniper in particular. This could almost be mistaken for a fruit beer!! Dry, bitter (as in gin) finish. A very unusual beer. 080106

Bottled (ABV 5%). Yellowish golden colour with small white head. Hayish malty aroma. Grassy hoppy flavour. Hops grows a lot until finish. A bit sweetish caramel before hops kick in.

Golden color, not much head. Light lemony-hoppy nose. Leafy hoppy, a bit sweet malty flavor. Medium-bodied. Bitter aftertaste. Quite similar to Laitilan Kukko Pils.

Canned. Nut brown, brief head. Grassy and lightly roasty. A bit thina nd metallic. Salty finish with medium bitterness. Better than the commercial Finnish brewers’ beers, but not by that much.

(Bottle 33 cl) Straw golden, very yellowish actually, slightly hazy. Decent head that collapses rather fast though. Incredibly dry, absolutely no sweetness here. Very pronounced bitterness, albeit a short one. And then I get the most unbelievable notes of....gueuze!!! - in both aroma and flavour. Where the f... do they come from. Strange but pleasant indeed. A lot more characterful than the stronger IV version. 270505

(Bottle 33 cl) Believe this ought to be called "Mallaskosken Vaalea Kuohu IV" - to keep a line in the naming. Straw golden with a slight haze. The head is almost absent. No trace of any malt, just a rather harsh bitterness. Forgettable. 120505

Bottled. Dark copper colour, mediumsized white foamy/bubbly head. Strong sweet malty nose. Malty hoppy bitter flavour with vegetably notes (mostly peas). I prefer the IV versions of these beers...
