Description
Preparations for Leidsch Bier started in 2003. Before that, owner / brewer JW Fukkink had been active as an amateur beer brewer since 2000. The official start was a fact with the introduction of Leidsch Blond in April 2004. With the move to own business premises (mid 2010) and obtaining the brew / excise permit (May 2011), there was finally a real beer brewery in Leiden again.

Bottle, from trade with fonefan. It pours a clear, golden body and a small, off-white head. The aroma is fruity with a touch of white sugar and a pleasant grassy, piney and peppery hoppyness. The flavor has some citrusy hoppyness to go with the fruityness from the yeast, and the pale malts. Medium body, pleasant carbonation. Considering it being made at De Proef, I wouldn’t expect a bad beer, but on the other hand, it’s as ordinary as expected. It drinks easily and tastes decent, but it’s just one in the crowd. 110421

Bottled. Great golden color, medium slight off-white head. Aroma of fruity and grassy noble hops. Soft bitter taste, slight sweet. Nothing spectacular or outspoken in taste, but very nicely balanced beer. Not like the average belgian blonde, which usually is too sweet or too spicy, but in this one the use of noble hops do the trick.

Bottle. Weak spicy aroma, lemon, a bit like Brett. The flavour is nicely spicy, clove and coriander, perhaps a little lemon. Adequate sweetness. Well-balanced.
