Description
Preparations for Leidsch Bier started in 2003. Before that, owner / brewer JW Fukkink had been active as an amateur beer brewer since 2000. The official start was a fact with the introduction of Leidsch Blond in April 2004. With the move to own business premises (mid 2010) and obtaining the brew / excise permit (May 2011), there was finally a real beer brewery in Leiden again.

Bottle, courtesy of fonefan. A clear, amber beer with a decent beige head. Cellar, dried fruits and a touch of caramel in the aroma. A bit papery mouthfeel, medium bodied, with flavors of cellar, caramel and dried fruits. Cellar and dried fruits in the finish. A decent dubbel, but there’s lots of beers better than this one. 100522

Bottle in Leiden. Aroma of grain and sweet malts. Dark golden colour, stable white head. The flavour starts off a bit watery with some fresh white bread. Finishes with a hint of bitter hops and a rubbery feel. Not bad, though. High carbonation and swelling mouthfeel.

Clear orange-gold; fine white head. Sweet, liqueurish , faint fruity, pineapple pie. Dull-sweet taste, like a tin can of pineapple slices that has been forgotten - for a decennium or so. Gets very cloying. Some caramel. Cloying, but not really well bodied. Very disappointing, home-brew like. De Proef ???
