Description
Two Towns Down is a brewing project founded by Sandy McKelvie.

Sandy started his brewing career in the Isle of Man before returning to his native Scotland to complete the Brewing and Distilling Degree at Heriot Watt University. In his third year he was also the in-house brewer at the Hanging Bat which included collabs with the likes of Six Degrees North.

Once the four year course was complete he took a brewing position at Fallen Brewing Co. before moving on to head up recipe development and barrel aging at Black Isle Brewing Co. Having recently relocated to 71 Brewing in Dundee, Sandy has taken the opportunity to launch his own project, showcasing innovative and cutting edge beers while still drawing inspiration from classic brewing philosophies.

Can from Cornelius. Pours murky orange with a thin white head. Aromas of peaches and cream as promised. Taste is tangy sour, lactose and fruit. Fruity finish.

Can from Appellation Wines. Appearance - bright and opaque orange. Quickly disappearing head. Nose - lemon zest, orange and salt. Light icing sugar note. Taste - lemon zest and salt big time. Palate - light bodied but with good texture and a very persistent, sharp finish. Overall - a proper gose, as the salt ie very evident.

Can from Cornelius. Pours light hazy yellow with a thin white head. Aromas of lemon and light funk. Taste has some biscuit and salt, but mostly sour lemon. Tangy, chalky finish.

Can from Appellation Wines. Appearance - murky to muddy, yelllow brown. Thin white head. Nose - mango, peach and quite a pulped or smoothie thing. Taste - orange, pineapple and coconut. Assume that's the Sabro.. Palate - light bodied with a creamy middle. Balanced and gentle bitterness on the finish. Overall - looked bad but improved a lot through the tasting.

Clear red beer, a small head soon fizzes away. Smell is bready, with banana and a little pepper. Flavour has caramel, berries, a little spice, some toasty malt. Doesn't have the kick I'd expect for the strength, but it's distinct and the flavour lingers with the toasty pepper coming through a little in the finish too to make it smooth and warming.

Clear dark amber beer, thin off white head. Smells of a light, sweet fruit I can't quite place, but it's nice. Flavour has fruit, caramel, malt, a little boozy warmth. Not as big and punchy as you might expect or hope for but it's warm and sweet and very drinkable.

Can at ash's. Pours deep amber, nose is caramel, raisin, spices, banana, taste is similar, chewy toffee, light citrus, some sweetness. Lot of spice in the finish.

Can from Appellation Wines. Appearance - orange to autumnal red and clear. Creamy beige head. Nose - banana and bubblegum. Creamy caramel and lightly jammy. Taste - more jam and caramel. Sweet spice and raisins. Palate - a bit thinner than expected. Sweet middle and finish. Overall - lacks the Belgian yeast zing.
