Description
In de werfkelder van Stadskasteel Oudaen wordt jaarlijks op ambachtelijke wijze zo’n 75.000 liter bier gebrouwen. De bieren hebben ieder een eigen karakter.
In de moderne huisbrouwerij van Oudaen staan twee prachtige koperen ketels met een inhoud van 1000 liter, die rechtstreeks zijn aangesloten op de tap.

Established as Utrechtse Stoombierbrouwerij Oudaen in 1990. Became
Utrechtse Stoombierbrouwerij in 1996 and after that Stadskasteel Oudaen in 2003. The current name was introduced in 2019.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours clear and golden amber with a small tan and dense head. Aroma is toasted malty and caramelish to breadish. Dense malty, caramelish and light phenolic. Roasted, bitter and dry malty. Ends roasted and bitter.

Draught @ The brewery. Clear yellow / golden color, small white head, smell malts, grains. Taste malts, grains, light to moderately bitter. Medium carbo, low to medium body.

Draught @ The brewery. Hazy yellow color, small white head that disappears almost instantly. Don’t smell anything. Taste malts, a bit sweet and a bit bitter. Nothing really wrong with it but nothing special either. Medium, a bit fizzy carbonation, low to medium body.

Draught @ the source. Clear orange golden color, small to medium sized white head that leaves a decent lacing. Smell malts, some sweetness like corn and grains. Taste malts, grains, lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Low to medium carbo, low body.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours clear and golden deep amber with a thick, creamy and off-white head. Aroma is toasted malty and light grassy hoppy. Sweet caramelish, toasted and with a good counterbalancing bitterness. Bitter and toasted malty finish.

On tap at the brewpub, Utrecht, Netherlands, 26.09.11 Pours crystal clear, golden with a slim white head. Sweet cereal on nose and cereal (corn) in mouth, soft also and just a bit too much on the sweetness front, not that interesting I’m afraid. A5 A5 T5 P2 Ov10 2.7
