Description

Welcome at Heaps of Hops, the Amsterdam based craft brewing company.
We make lower alcohol craft beers, so-called session ales. Our beers are full flavor crafts, but easy on the alcohol.. By using lots of hops in our recipes the taste is as you would expect of a passionately crafted beer!

So, what’s Heaps? Heaps is Australian slang, often used to say there is a lot of something. They use it for almost anything, such as ‘heaps of stars’, ‘heaps of fun’ and ‘heaps cool’. It was in Australia where the idea for Heaps of Hops beers was born during a round the world motorbike trip in 2016. After drinking many local beers and tasting some great lower alcohol beers, the idea for Heaps of Hops came to life.

Our motto is ‘because less is more’. We brew with less malts and more hops. Therefore our beers have less alcohol but more taste, and less calories to keep you more fit!

Bottle from a local supermarket. Aroma is caramel malt with gentle hoppy notes, mild fruity with some orange. Flavour is moderate sweet and medium bitter. Light body. Fair for what it aims to be, though the irony of the brewery name and the low hop character of the beer doesn't escape me.

Bottle 0,33ltr: Hazy blonde colored brew with an dry bitter taste, hints of coriander and pepper with an annoying cheesy aroma. Gift from aroma.

@home poured into a footed pilsner glass. Hazy medium golden colour, good frothy white head, good retention and lacing. Fruity aroma, pale malt, lime, peach, grassy hops. Taste light bitter and sweet, peach, lime, resinous notes. Light body, watery texture, soft carbonation, mild bittersweet aftertaste, orange pith, bit chalky, more bitterness in the finish, nice session ale.

Bottle shared. Clear orange color, average sized white head. Smell and taste malts, lightly metallic, iron notes, some hops. Not too bad. Alright. But for a 3,5% beer: very well done.

Fles gedeeld met Benzai Keukenman en Tomhendriksen. Bleek geel troebel bier met matig schuim dat snel weg trekt. Aroma en smaak is hoppig. Nasmaak is iets bitter.

Fles gedeelt door Inoven, geprobeerd met Benzai en Keukeman. Het is een troebel oranje geel bier met een volle medium witte schuimkraag. Het heeft een hoppige geur. De smaak is hoppig en wat fruitig.

ABV: 3.5%. Hazy - murky matt medium yellow colour with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, moderate hoppy, citrus, fruity hops - tropical fruit, dusty, fruity peel, light zesty. Flavor is moderate sweet and moderate to light bitter with a average duration, fruity hops, fruity peel - fruity skin, light zesty. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. Fles 33cl thuis. 3,5%. IBU 24. Hoppig (Cara), citrus, sinaasappelschil, wat malttonen, licht rood fruittonen, pine, bitters, fruitig. Wat waterig, korte nadronk. (13-3-2020).
